Hello, I am wondering if anyone else is applying for BCIT’s January 2021 intake? I thought I would start this thread so we could share our progress through the application process. Good luck!
Hi everyone,
I was noticed today that I was waitlisted for the Apr 2021 intake. I was wondering if those who were accepted if they don’t mind sharing what they applied with (grades or volunteer work). I was wondering if it was worth reapplying for admission for a future intake.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! :)
Hi guys, I just got an acceptance letter today too! I'm very excited to meet you all ?
It's my 2nd time applying. Got shortlisted the last term. I didn't get shortlisted this term so I wasn't expecting to get an acceptance letter anymore, so I was really surprised!
I'm currently working at St. Paul's Hospital as a Lab technician ? and I think that helped a lot with my application.

I have worked as a lab technician for maybe 2 years now but also worked at BC Cancer for about a year and a half. I was casual in both hospitals before.
I worked in customer service for 5 years. I think I also have over 60 post-secondary credits including the lab technician program.
as for the prereqs
Chemistry 11 95%
Math 12 90%
English 1177 75% (IDK if they received the transcript but I just upgraded in April and got 82%)
BHSC 77%
PYSCH 1215 95%
French 95%
Stats 77%
I also took eng 1129 (I think that LIBS 7001) and Biomedical Ethics (LIBS 7002) from Langara prior to applying.
Nice! that's a lot of good experience
I have 3 years experience in customer service 1 n half year experience as a care aide with public health authority, and I'm starting a new job this week as a covid 19 contact tracer for the CDC.
I probably have just under 60 credits ish including my care aide program and other classes I have done.
My grades are average they could be better:
psych 1101 86%
chem 11 73%
engl 1177 78%
math0007 90%
CNST 1140 B+
Stat 1124 B+
Soci 1100 A-
BHSC is my last one which im doing RN and have my casper booked for jan and applying in feb.
Also going to be taking libs 7001 in jan semester but IDK if it will get counted in because the deadline for applications is march 15 and the class ends April 13
Hoping the experience makes up for the grades.

You have a pretty solid work experience as well. I’m sure that will help! ?? They are really looking for hospital work experience that have patient interactions I guess.
Yes, taking libs prior to applying/entering the program will surely be helpful. It will also lessen the workload in Term 2 and 4? ? Goodluck on your application! I hope you will get in! ?
For those who got an acceptance letter by email. Did you guys check your status in mybcit? Cos mine is still pending department review.
Are we getting an “official” acceptance letter via mycommunications?

I'm also seeing in past forums that those who are placed in top 10 are offered a spot for the next intake if there's no spots.. wondering if that'll be the case this time..
