BCIT January 2021

Published

Hello, I am wondering if anyone else is applying for BCIT’s January 2021 intake? I thought I would start this thread so we could share our progress through the application process. Good luck!

Hi everyone,

I was noticed today that I was waitlisted for the Apr 2021 intake. I was wondering if those who were accepted if they don’t mind sharing what they applied with (grades or volunteer work). I was wondering if it was worth reapplying for admission for a future intake.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! :)

All the best!
This was my second time applying and I've applied with a B for my PSYC course and with A's for the rest (math, engl, bhsc etc.) I have also completed both LIBS 7001/7021. I think I generally have around 30 credits (clearly did not do an undergrad prior), 200+ volunteer hours at a hospital and work as a Youth Educator with VCH.

This however was my second time applying. At that time, I applied with 2 B's..was shortlisted and soon waitlisted last April but the program became full. My application then rolled over for the September intake but it was not competitive enough...

In all, I would say keep applying and building your application!! it will be worth it!!

I just received an email saying that the class is full and I'm placed in top 10 waitlist. They advised to still do the immunization form, criminal record check, and CPR as there is a high chance of getting in.. Good luck to everyone else!

I am waitlisted too!! Finger crossed for us! Are you thinking of taking libs 7001/7021 starting Jan, by any chance?

are you also on top 10? I already took 7001, but I will be taking 7021 in Jan! Really hope seats open up for us.

Yes! I am on the top 10! You already did! Keep our fingers crossed!

Hi guys, I got an acceptance letter too. I have a degree from UBC, which I believe really helped me get in. My grades were low- average to be honest. But I had some work and volunteer experience which might have also aided my application.

I got rejected last time because of my mistake of not checking the supplemental.

Congrats to everyone who got in and all the best to those waiting. Keep on going, you will make it one day.

Thanks so much! Same to you ?

Yes that's right, it says "pending department review" still on mybcit. But I got an email for the acceptance. ? I think they will be updating it soon

Congratulations to everyone who was accepted, and to those who weren't don't give up!! I was in the same spot as you and tried again and got in. You will get there!!?

Question for those who were accepted. By when do we have to accept our seat? I haven't gotten an official email from BCIT and my mybcit account is done at the moment. Thank you!

Thank you! ?  Yeah, I only got the email so far as well. Okay haha, I feel relieved knowing that it's the same for everyone! I was so anxious thinking they might have sent me a wrong email LOL.

But my friend who studies in BCIT told me they will for sure send another email for the commitment fee to secure our seat in the program.

Congratulations on the acceptance! I applied with a degree as well, but unfortunately I was waitlisted. If you don’t mind me asking what type of volunteer/ work experience did you apply with? I’m trying to figure out a way to make my application stronger (if I plan to apply in the future).

Thanks!

Hello, Congratulations! ?

I'm still waiting for the "official acceptance letter" as well. Hopefully, they will send it out before the weekend or on Monday.

For those that are planning to take LIBS 7001/21 in January, which section are you planning to sign up for? One class ends April 12th, which conflicts with the nursing program as it is also due to start April 12th. There is one other section that ends sometime in March but that one is restricted to currently enrolled nursing students.
