BCIT January 2021

Published

Hello, I am wondering if anyone else is applying for BCIT’s January 2021 intake? I thought I would start this thread so we could share our progress through the application process. Good luck!

Congratulations on the acceptance! I applied with a degree as well, but unfortunately I was waitlisted. If you don’t mind me asking what type of volunteer/ work experience did you apply with? I’m trying to figure out a way to make my application stronger (if I plan to apply in the future).

Thanks!

Hi, thanks so much, I appreciate it.

I have been volunteering at a hospital for 3 years. I did data entry with an organization for a year. I also have 2 years of cashier/customer service work experience.

I am not sure but perhaps my CASPER also helped? It's hard to say.

I really hope you get in from the waitlist. I know how it feels (I also got rejected from Langara twice haha because my transcript didn't say that I had a degree on it, long story) All the best, you got this!

For those that are planning to take LIBS 7001/21 in January, which section are you planning to sign up for? One class ends April 12th, which conflicts with the nursing program as it is also due to start April 12th. There is one other section that ends sometime in March but that one is restricted to currently enrolled nursing students.

Hey thats a great observation. I think I will take the one that ends in April 12, since our options are limited.

Maybe we should ask one of the advisors? What do you think?

Just so you guys know, you are able to register for nursing student only classes if you’ve been accepted. You can email the BCIT nursing email or if there’s an email under the course # and they will refer you to someone to get approved.

Oh good to know. I assumed by “currently enrolled nursing students” they meant the students in term 2

Hey guys, for those that have been accepted via email, has anyone received a formal acceptance in their 'myCommunications' account yet?

No, but if you check your account’s mycommunication, you shouldve received another acceptance email from them.

Check your application status as well. It should say accepted.

Hi guys, I just registered for Libs 7001 for Winter 2021. I took the section that’s for nursing students which ends in March 26th.

I got the approval today to register. ?

Hmmm, my status hasn't changed in my communications and I haven't yet received anything other than the acceptance in my email inbox on October 26th. Anyone else experiencing the same thing?

I'm also seeing in past forums that those who are placed in top 10 are offered a spot for the next intake if there's no spots.. wondering if that'll be the case this time..

If I can give advice it would be to not rely on this happening. The first time I applied I was on the waitlist, top 15, I waited 6 months to than be told the seats were full, and that my application was reviewed for the next intake but received a non-offer. I assumed I would be placed in the next intake and didn’t apply anywhere else. Apparently that is not how BCIT does things.
