Hello, I am wondering if anyone else is applying for BCIT’s January 2021 intake? I thought I would start this thread so we could share our progress through the application process. Good luck!

Yes! it was a pretty quick transition too... Anyways, we won't be hearing back until June.. but with everything going on, time is going soooo slow.

Just an FYI, we heard today that all terms are getting delayed (no Summer semester) due to COVID-19. This means that the April 2020 cohort is starting in September 2020 and the September 2020 cohort is starting in January 2021. Therefore, I would assume that your cohort will begin in April 2021.

Thanks for the update @futureRNcanada May I ask how you heard this information? I have been offered admission to UBC (Okanagan) and TRU both starting for September 2020, but I was still holding out for a BCIT seat....hmm

Congratulations! I was supposed to begin at the end of April at BCIT. We received a letter last Thursday from BCIT (April and September cohort) that our start times have been delayed. The April cohort begins in September 2020 and September cohort begins in January 2021 so I would assume your intake will be pushed to April 2021. I hope this helps! Hopefully they’ll let you guys know soon ??

So bcit has cancelled the April 2021 intake. I'm wondering how thatll impact the jan 2021 intake? Has anyone been able to talk to bcit about it? Getting worried!

I sent an email to BCIT nursing and this was the reply I received today.

”Due to the uncertainty of the current COVID-19 pandemic, the April 2020 term has been cancelled and all BSN terms deferred for one term.

The decision has not been made lightly and is in response to the emergency in the hospital/clinical sites that host BCIT students and the suspension of on campus classes and labs.

Students scheduled to start the program in September will now be offered a seat in the January 2021 class.

January 2021 applicants will considered for the April 2021 term, and possibly waitlisted for the January 2021 term if seats become available.

Check your myBCIT email and communications account regularly for updates. Information will be shared as it becomes available.“

So they will still have an April intake but only for the jan 2021 applicants? And some of us may be waitlisted for jan right? As long as our applications dont get cancelled altogether!

We won't be finding out if we make it to the next step or not till Sept.

Yeah I did. I'm really worried about how it'll affect my chances of getting in, but nothing that we can do to change anything. Is this your first time applying?
