BCIT January 2018 Intake

Published

Hello everyone!

Now that the 2018 January applications are open, I thought that a thread should be started about it.

To those that are wondering, I'm applying with:

A&P 1 - A-

A&P 2 - A-

Psychology - A-

English - A-

Physics (elective 1) - A-

Philosophy (elective 2) - B

So, overall I'm applying with a 3.55 GPA. I have no previous degree, or relevant work experience. However, I do have relevant volunteer experiences.

I'm so nervous about my chances getting in. How are you guys feeling? What are your grades like?

Good luck to us all! :)

Wow, they short listed a lot of people compared to the last intakes (180 I think?). Is the 250 for both January and April intake or just January?

Yeah that's what I was thinking too. Thats a 40% chance of getting in. That's just for January I believe. The total number of people who applied to Jan is 306

Maybe it's because there are so many amazing applicants for this intake that they couldn't decide :)

This is my second time applying since being waitlisted for the August intake. I was worried when I didn't get an email for the shortlist and asked admissions about it. I've been told that I've been accepted into the January intake and that I should've been notified earlier in myCommuniations. Wishing everyone luck in the questionnaire! There may be others like me, so the number of available seats is less than 96.

What did you do to change your application? I'm curious on how you got accepted right away!! congrats!

I improved my application by taking additional post-secondary courses and gaining work related experience (which was very hands on and related to nursing). This probably impressed the department, as they automatically accepted me without repeating the questionnaire process.

Once you are waitlisted, you do not need to any other things to improve your application or reapply again, wasting $90. If you are not accepted for this intake you will be automatically offered a seat in the next one. I knew that from a previous post.

Did you get accepted for the January intake as well?

No, I did not. I got shortlisted again. It seems the selection game is more competitive at the January intake.

You are ready to do immunization record and criminal check.

I have a feeling like what we are talking here is being read by the selection committee.

Well this nursing forum is operated and visited by many people, so it shouldn't prevent them (especially the selection commitee) from seeing our posts and read whatever we wrote.

When quite a bit of us show a high level of anxiety, we will get an update from the committee and someone will come out and give an official explanation from the school. When someone says she is not likely to get accepted, she will be likely to get an email telling her she does not get an offer.

@ catandions I get what you mean but it varies on everyone's situation so that's not always the case.
