BCIT January/April 2019 Intake Discussion

Hey everyone, I know the BCIT January 2019 admission deadline is still a ways to go but I just wanted to know how many people are planning to apply, and also exchange some advice and questions with each other.

First off, I'd like to show you what I am applying with:

Highschool reqs

Precalc 12 - 99

CHEM 11 - 86

UNI reqs (UBC)

ENG112 - 74 (B)

PSYC101 - 72 (B)

CPSC - 86 (A)

STAT - 82 (A-)

A&P1 - TBD

A&P2 - TBD

I'm taking A&P in the Summer

experiences

- senior home (occupational therapy) volunteer

- first aid volunteer

- pharmacy assistant volunteer

Here are my questions:

Does BCIT determine your GPA based on your own university's grading scale? Or their own? And also, I'm not too sure about how to calculate GPA, since there are so many different scales online. Can anyone provide an accurate estimate of my GPA?

Does number of hours you've volunteered matter? Or do they consider it by months? Because I don't see a box where you input how many hours in the form.

How strong does my application look so far, and any advice?

I have a feeling we will hear around 3-4! I'm constantly checking at work hahah

At least you have work to distract you hahaha! Today was the one day I was hoping I'd be scheduled to work so I could stay distracted but I wasn't scheduled nor do I have class, so now I'm at home just waiting pretty much :'(

SAME! Today is my day off and I'm dying! Every time my phone buzzes my heart skips a beat.

Awww that's so sweet!! Me too, I already feel like I'm in the nursing program just talking to you guys, we all deserve to get in :)

Guys, I emailed them this morning asking whether we would find out today and someone replied, "All applicants will know their final status by October 31st". We might not find out today, but that wording is ambiguous so... ahaha I'm going crazy with anticipation.

Last year accepted applicants found out a week after the quiz and rejected offers and waitlisted people found out end of October!

They said that for January 2018 intake, but people found out on Oct. 26 :S

I think they probably don't know for certain exactly when they'll send out all the offers so to be safe they'll say Oct 31 as the latest date

Its just nerve wracking!! I don't want to be distracted and checking my emails multiple times a day if I knew for sure which day we'd be hearing back yenno
