Hello future nurses,
I am so excited to be starting nursing at BCIT in August!
For future applicants: To have a strong application make sure you have work experience, volunteer experience (preferably healthcare), as well as liberal arts courses - my Psych 241 at SFU transferred over as a libs course and I will find out if any other courses of mine transfer over once I send them an updated transcript.
I am going to be going in with a completed BSc in Kinesiology and Psychology, but a full degree is not necessary, just at least 60 credits to be competitive!
Anyone else defer to August?
Hey everyone,
I manually dropped off my transcripts at the office on Aug. 9, and today my application status was updated and it says that my transcripts were "received by August 21, 2013." So this makes me wonder if the documents have to be received by Aug. 31, or does everything have to be processed by Aug. 31. If anyone can clarify this that would be awesome!
Also, all of the academic requirements have a Note placed next to it that indicates the course that I've received credit for, EXCEPT for the 6 credits General Academic Requirements; however they have indicated that they received it. If there is no note next to the requirement does that mean I didn't receive credit for it?! What does this mean?! I am freaking out and the deadline is fast approaching.
I believe that all supporting documentation has to be submitted by August 31st in order for your application to be complete and accepted for review. I finished A&P this semester and I'm patiently waiting for the transcripts to get there haha! In regards to your second comment, mine says "received" as well with nothing beside it. This concerned me too, but they sent communication informing methat I had missing requirements and only my A&P marks were missing and were required by the 31st (which I knew because I was currently completing it) so I assume I've met the requirements. If you recieved no letter informing you that you have missing requirements, I'm sure you're fine. But double checking from them directly always gives better peace of mind haha.
Yup, I just submitted my last transcript a few days ago!
By the way, I created a new thread for all of us January 2014 applicants. Visit: https://allnurses.com/canada-nursing-programs/bcit-january-2014-a-853197.html or if that doesn't work, try searching "BCIT January 2014 Applicants".

Hello!
I have applied for the January 2014 intake and I'm looking for some advice on the Liberal Arts 7001/7002 courses. A BCIT advisor encouraged me to take these two courses as they would make my application stronger, if I do not get in, as well as help me later because they are part of the program. I am struggling to decide if I want to take them online because I have never taken an online course before! I enjoy the structure of going to class and interacting with others, but it may work better for my schedule to take them online. ANY feedback in regards to experience, difficulty, or course content would be super helpful :). Thanks
