Wanted to start a forum for NP applicants for the 2026 school year. I've applied to TRU and UNBC. Background is in nursing station work in northern BC and primary care with 10 years experience.

Their initial email had said that applicants would be notified approximately mid - December to mid- January. I'm guessing that if they are still considering our applications, we won't hear back until next week at the earliest. That doesn't stop me from checking the portal every day - ha! The wait is so hard.

I hate the waiting game! I wonder how many people received the update that they didn't get in.

I'm so curious about that as well. I wish there was more information about the number of applicants for each school, and how many successful applicants live/practice within the health authority local to each university.
Hey guys,
I'm currently in nursing school. Just about to start my preceptorship on a High Acuity Unit in January that I've been ESNing on! I may plan to become a NP later on in my 30s (not entirely set on it). I was wondering a couple things. Im set to graduate with a 4.10 GPA on a 4.3 scale.
Does UBC use the last 60 credits of your BSN to formulate your admissions GPA? On their website it simply states that you must have a B+ average or higher in your third- and fourth-year courses and an academic standing with at least 12 credits of third-or fourth-year courses in the A grade range (80% or higher at UBC). Unlike TRU or UVIC, it doesn't explicitly state that they base their admissions decisions solely off your last 2-years or your last 60-credits. My GPA in my last 60-credits is 4.13 and my GPA in the last 2-years is 4.21. Just so confused as to what they actually look at.
The reason I'm asking is because I took 24-credits of some other uni work BEFORE ever applying to nursing. Those extra-credits bring my blended-cumulative GPA down to a 4.01 😞 It's kind of annoying as I ended up taking more than 120-credits alone of just my nursing degree. Just wondering if they would even look at those 24-credits though. If anyone has any information on this, it would be much appreciated. Happy Holidays!
