Nursing Students School Programs

Starting a new thread for all those applying to start in Summer 2021. Let's support each other! Just created a FB group too - Baylor Fastbacc 2021. Please join if you are planning to apply.

Hello All,

I'm planning to take HESI in december. do you think it's super late and they already received lots of applications and found as many students as they want?! you I don't want to stay hopeful if it is too late !!

@Arash Try to take the HESI sooner, in my opinion, and if you can of course! There is always the possibility that people drop last minute so there is always hope, but you got to get your application in ? goodluck!

Hey all! I don't have a facebook, but I was thinking.. if there hasn't been one created already, I can start a groupme? it may be a little redundant but just wanted to give the option out to anyone who will be attending FastBacc Summer 2021 and may not have facebook or is interested in getting a group chat started ?

let me know!

Hello, the only links approved by the Terms of Service are FB links.

Or, you may form a special area for your cohort in the Clubs area.  Click on the Breakroom link, top left of the page (in the yellow bar area), and create the area via the Create A New Club area, in the green bar at the top of the page.

Does anyone know if the TEAS is acceptable in replacement of the HESI? I got a really great score on the TEAS, so I would prefer to just use that and not take the HSEI. Most of the schools I am applying to require the TEAS, and this is the only school that doesn't.

@Arash I’m right there with you. I’m not taking HESI until Dec 3. I am just not confident enough in the math section to take it sooner. I’ll be studying the NurseHub & Elsevier guides the next 2 weeks.

Hellooo! Is there anyone here that currently attends this program and is able to shed some insight to a future student? I've applied for Summer 2022 and would love to hear about how it's been going for you all. Thank you in advance!!

Thank you for your response! I was wondering if you feel well supported as a student, given that this program moves at an even faster rate, and what the culture is like on campus. How many hours would you say are spent on campus in a week, and did you find it difficult to adjust to the rigors of the program? Thank you !!

@kayb129 Here is an honest input. Let me know if more Qs.

1) The program is rigorous - courses crammed into a span of 12 months. Courses have on-campus lectures plus online units, so self-pacing is necessary. The best thing you can do for yourself is find out your optimum studying style. When the program starts, you will feel overwhelmed and stressed (not going to lie), but time management and organization is absolute KEY! Be organized from day 1. Keep a planner. It DOES get better & the course load gets better mid Fall as the harder classes end.  Make friends, group study, etc. Don't be isolated.

2) I think the rigor surprises many students as they forget it is accelerated, so be prepared to put in more study hours than you usually do. Study a few hours every day to keep up, but don't forget to take time for yourself too. Remember - it is all about the quality of your studying (comprehension & retention), NOT the quantity!

3) There is good support from staff.  Communicate early if you have issues so you can be supported. Profs are great!

4) Depending on the courses, at least 2-3 days a week on campus (sometimes till 4pm, other days till noon). It will change as courses end & new ones start. But never on campus all 5 days.  When clinical starts, you will be off site 2x a week.

I appreciate your honesty! With the given schedule, does anyone work part time or do you think it’s possible? And if you’ve started clinicals, how do you like the sites and preceptors? Are you able to be involved and hands on? Lastly, with tuition costs being 75k+, do you feel that the program is worth it and is it hard to get scholarships? Thank you so much !!!
