I was just wondering if there is anyone else applying for the 2014 spring program. It's my first time applying to a nursing school so I'm excited! My HESI is overall average 86% (not that great) and overall gpa 3.7, also I'd be considered a transfer student. Hope to hear from ya'll!
It did go pretty quick and I wish they had a better idea of what our schedules are going to be. I left the school feeling excited and confused. It’s something I really want to do but I’m just torn because of my son. My son is two and we are always together! Come January I feel like I will hardly see him. I am just glad I do not have to worry about my living situation, one less thing to worry about for me!I was in the first group and I think our guides name was Britney? I saw a lot of students with their parents and that made me feel old! I was with my husband and I didn’t want to go around asking everyone, “hey are you from allnurses.com?” I was going to suggest we get together on Friday before the pre-nursing day but I was busy with school stuff. I know not everyone lives in Dallas but if anyone wants to get together for coffee or something let me know. Also, for those that didn’t go there is a parent’s organization and they are having a BBQ for the J1’s on Jan. 8th. I feel kind of weird going to it because I am an older student but is anyone planning on going? Maybe we can all get together the night before or a few nights before orientation and have dinner. Let me know what you guys think!
My husband and I are going. Britney's mom told us that she wished it said family and not just parents but she was so nice to us. My husband and my three year old are my support group. :)
Hey everyone so that is a great idea to meet for coffee/lunch and I'd def try to go to the BBQ too! The only thing is I work 5days a week 3-11 so if anyone is up for a meeting before then. Or I can try to meet on one of my off days. I also met a current student today with tips she's willing to let us know of. She too was a transfer spring student and think she understands our anxiety about it lol. Btw I'm basically 23 yo (bday in couple days :) ) not married and have no kids, and work at the hospital (across the street ) as a tech. Even though I'm nearby I need to get closer because I'm pretty much gonna be here 24/7 lol. So there's a little bit about me. Let me know when and where y'all wanna meet! :)
So, the way I understood it was they are going to do our schedule for us this first semester and we won't get it till it's closer to orientation. That being said, they posted a slide with a example of a J1 Schedule. I typed it up in the pic below. The highlighted section means you will have your clinicals on one or the other. Basically, you will get two days off a week. She (DeDe?) said if you can't do a Saturday clinical and have a valid reason to let her know and she will try to do her best to work with you.
I didn't ask about our fees but I know we have to pay our deposit and it's not letting me do that online. Anyone else having that problem? I am going to assume the fees for all our stuff like parking permits, name badges, etc are due with the paperwork on Oct 15th.
Hope I got all that right! Please anyone let me know if I am wrong.
Hope it helps you, wanttobe a RN!

Crystal, Thanks for the information! I looked at the sample schedule, thanks for taking time to do this:yes:. The schedule doesn't look very bad. At least 2 days kind'a half a day gives little relief. Hahaha!! I have 2 kids under the age of 5. After reading your message, I spoke to Baylor and they said that the 1st semester tuition will be due around 2nd half of December and we need to pay the deposit ($500) before registration begins. I guess we can do it online, using gobaylor account.
