Hey everyone!
Just wanted to see who all is applying for Barry University SCRNA program for 2021! Anyone have interviews yet? I have one scheduled in 2 weeks!
Any current/prior students with advice on this program?
@janelkallie When I interviewed, there were 8 interviewers (dean of the program, multiple heads of campuses & clinical, professors of varying topics as well as a current student. Half were in person, and half were projected via zoom/skype due to location. Not sure how they'll do it now with the pandemic. Questions for me were 95% personality/life questions with a twist, e.g., teach us about something that isn't medicine related or asking to describe my background/resume and choices that led me to CRNA, etc. I do know some colleagues were asked hard-hitting clinical/medication questions. Between us, not much difference in experience/background, so I'm not sure how they decide who gets asked what. Good luck to anyone with an interview!
I was one of ones who was asked a bunch of clinical and medication questions. Don’t be afraid to say you don’t know but then offer up ways you could look up the information. I didn’t know several things but I just told them that and I got in so I guess it worked out! Know your RSI/intubation drugs and medications used commonly in your specialty/ICU. Side effects, mechanism of action, indications, etc.
I just interviewed today and all I have to say is thank goodness that is over. It felt more like an interrogation than an interview. I was drilled with numerous clinical questions and only a few personal questions. At one point a comment by one of the interviewers was, "you're giving answers a nurse would give, not someone in anesthesia." Definitely caught me off guard. Clearly I am a nurse and not in anesthesia, isn't that why we are talking now? So I can hopefully go to anesthesia school. Unfortunately, I didn't get a great vibe from the interview whatsoever. It was a very belittling and confrontational experience for me.
I'm almost certain I won't get an acceptance letter so all the more power and good luck to the others that interviewed today! Hope you all have/had a better experience than me!

This is literally how my interview went and I got in, so stay hopeful! I was literally told the same thing and had the same drilling experience but got my acceptance letter in less than a week after. You got this!

I have an interview next week, just curious if anyone can give pointers on the types of questions. I'm super nervous about it already.
