Barry CRNA Starting 2017

Published

Just thought I'd start a thread for all of us applying! I'm planning on completing my application pretty soon. Taking the CCRN this week, and then I'll be ready to go! :o How are you all faring?

Also, does anyone know anything about the Tampa campus? I'm going to try and go for that one.

hey folks. does anyone know how much impact does your letters of recommendations make? I've already gotten one from a charge nurse and am currently trying to get one from an intensivist but it's so hard to catch her because she's always busy. I'm running out of time here and I want to be considered for the next interview session so I'm considering just having another charge nurse write me one.

That's a good question. All I know is the requirement is for two to get considered for an Interview. Submit them asap and then you can send more letters as your receive them. I sent 1 from a professor, 2 from both managers, 2 from CRNA's I shadowed, and 1 from my anesthesiologist/intensivist. I sent them in as I got them.

Mine were all from nurses, my manager, assistant manager an another ICU rn

I got offered an interview as well for April 15! SOOO excited!

Interview April 15th as well.

Can anyone who's been through the interview give more detail about how it was? Lots of clinical questions? Question you about your faults, etc?

Read previous comments. They have all said that it is laid back with no clinical questions.

Whether in this thread or another though, someone mentioned a CCRN/chemistry type quiz at the end.

Actually just received the detailed itinerary, so all questions answered!

Good luck to all who are interviewing this month! I'm waiting to hear back about my application. Can anyone explain how their interview went/ how hard was the exam, any areas that I should focus on. PM me if you can. Thanks guys and congrats to those accepted already!!

Hi iculvr, there is a lot of info regarding the Barry interview process on this forum, so I would suggest taking advantage of it, it helped me. I interviewed today and it was very laid back, they do a great job in making everyone feel comfortable. They are truly a great school and I get such a great feeling about the school in general. They had a senior come talk to us and that really made me fall in love with their clinical experience/rotations (it beats all the local competition from what little I know from friends in the various programs). The exam is 20 questions. Basic critical care questions and some chemistry. If you have your CCRN the critical care questions are a breeze, the chemistry depends on your level of knowledge. With that said, the exam in no way takes account into your acceptance. This was told to us in person and I have heard it on this forum and from a friend in the program. It is an assessment tool to see where you are at didactically. I would not spend any time worrying over this exam. Good luck and I hope you get an interview soon. Feel free to PM me with any specific questions or just ask here.

Thanks for this! Very helpful!!

@wm1234 Do you mind sharing your stats? I recently submitted my application and I'm anxiously waiting for a call for an interview. I have about 5 years of critical care experience, mostly in CVICU, CCRN-CSC-CMC certifications, 3.6 overall GPA, and a 301 on my GRE.
