Barry CRNA Starting 2016

Published

Hi everyone! Just wanted to start a thread for those applying to the CRNA program at Barry University starting January 2016! Comments, Questions, Concerns, Advice...

Also, is anyone in Miami interested in starting a GRE study group?

jbrar11, hang in there! You may get a call today. All of your application materials are in. The GRE, PALS, and the completion of my chemistry class are holding me up. Sending good vibes your way! I hope we can all get in.

GaMommy81, I wouldn't worry about your PALS, just focus on everything else. I still don't have my PALS yet and they said it would be fine as long as I had it by the time the program started.

I am trying not to stress out about everything. From what I understand, the head start program convenes in the Fall with the Chemistry course, and the Professional Aspects course. The advanced research class started this summer.

I'm a little stressed about my chem. It's chem 1 w/lab. Starts Jun 30 ends Aug 5. I wonder if it'll hurt me that it's not an advanced chem.

Or if it will end too late for me to take the head start chem (that is, if I get in)

Can anyone speak to the chemistry class? Is there anyone that has been accepted with Chem I only? The Fall 2015 schedule has not been published yet. The academic calendar say that all of the classes for Fall begin on August 24th. That should be enough time for you to get in for the Chemistry class at Barry. My course ends on July 28th. I am hoping that I can squeeze in too, that is if I get an interview and am accepted.

They take general, chemistry, biochemistry or organic chemistry as long as it has a lab. I wouldn't sweat about taking the chemistry they're offering in fall if you have too many things pending. It's a call for disaster since it's a very difficult program and you really don't want to get a C in it. I would finish what's pending first and then wait until next year. You won't be working so all you'll have to do is organize your time appropriately in order to meet their expectations. Remember that Barry is the only school offering the headstart classes and if you applied to other schools you'd have to take it next year anyways.

This makes a lot of sense FAU2013. We will have plenty of time to struggle through all of the classes together in the Spring. Yay! Lol! I am just trying to stay focused and work on studying for this GRE. It seems like it is going to be a beast! Lol. I am trying to make sure I understand the scoring correctly. Our raw score is one point for every question that we answer correctly, right? So if we answer 20/40 questions correctly on either verbal or quantitative that equates to 150? My goal is 155 or higher on each section. I have been studying like crazy for the last few weeks. I am trying not to be nervous. I am just doing my practice questions and continuing to go over the things that I need more clarification on.

@ Gamommy81 just try and score 150/150/3.5 and you'll be ok. I studied gre for dummies... Go to a Barnes & Noble and read Gre for dummies argument and issue section. I scored a 4 from using that book.

I will do my best. Lol! I need to stop stressing.

The only thing holding you up is the GRE. You can do PALS after being accepted and you can just tell them you are taking chemistry and that should be enough to get the interview if your stats are what they are looking for. If you are accepted, they will give a provisional acceptance provided you complete those other things. GRE has to be done before interview though.

Edit: Double check with them to make sure, but pretty sure about this.

I figured that the GRE is the only piece of the puzzle holding me up. I keep getting emails from Barry telling me what I am missing, unless that is just customary. Would they waste time even emailing you if they know your stats are not competitive? Do some people receive thanks but no thanks emails before their applications are even complete? I think that I am just being worrisome at this point. I am going to knock the GRE out of the park and pray for an interview to follow. Thanks for all of the feedback guys. It helps to have someone to talk to about applying to schools.

Thanks, guys, for all the support that has been given on this thread. Still hoping for the best for myself and for others still on the waiting boat! Not giving up!
