Barry CRNA Starting 2016

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

Hi everyone! Just wanted to start a thread for those applying to the CRNA program at Barry University starting January 2016! Comments, Questions, Concerns, Advice...

Also, is anyone in Miami interested in starting a GRE study group?

I've heard we'll find out the same week. So I'm kind of banking on Wednesday..... wishful thinking, I'm sure. Lol

They send responses to everyone on the same day, usually 3-5 business days post interview.

Did everyone that interviewed back in April receive a letter of acceptance?

I remember I interviewed on a Monday and found out by Friday. And I remember getting the letter a few weeks later.

Gamommy81, we received letters via email.

Back in April. It took longer than one week. Actually it was more like 2 weeks.

Dont stress it. If you got an interview your half way there. Unfortunately some people apply with no chem, no GRE, no CCRN, and no icu experience. These applications are the ones that get weeded out.

They don't weed you out if you don't have CCRN or a low GRE score. You can be provincially accepted and asked to retake your GRE as well as those things that are missing before class commences in January. They look at everything/ the whole picture. Some people have great scores and they still don't get in. We were interviewed April 24th and received responses May 5th. April 24th was a Friday, May 5th was a Tuesday. So technically it was after 6 business days. The ICU experience is not mandatory as evidenced by their requirement as follows from their website:

"The "critical care setting" is not limited to a specific work area. However, the complexity of the patient population's health problems should routinely require non-invasive and invasive monitoring, continuous pharmacologic infusions and mechanical ventilation."

@FAU2013. I didn't say that you can't get in if you have a No CCRN or a Low GRE score. I'm saying if an applicant has not taken the GRE at all, No CCRN, NO chem, and no ICU experience then they won't be competitive. In that scenario, you will probably get weeded out. Yes, ICU experience is not technically "required". At my hospital they have stable trach patients on vents on our units. Sometimes even though rarely, a patient may have an Arterial line as well. PACU and ED can substitute as well. I know Barry doesn't require it. But dont you agree with me that it's "BETTER" or more "COMPETITIVE" to have the ICU experience? Unless Barry is the only University that your applying for CRNA because all the other CRNA schools require ICU experience. Better to have that clinical experience then not.

Got my letter of acceptance today !!!

Just got my acceptance letter too. Congrats CM684
