Thanks Cingly! I wasn't even going to try for Memphis anymore because of how hard I heard the program was! But I think I may try to all 3 for the spring! Thanks for the advice!

I wouldn't go so far as to say they are any "harder" than other programs, because nursing school is hard no matter what. However, the U of M program is tough, and it is demanding. Not everyone made it. But not everyone is cut out for nursing school. This is not to discourage, but to rather point out that nursing school is what you make it. Getting in is the easy part, really! The work starts after you get in! I would recommend that you apply to all three so that you have lots of options. Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

Thanks! And I will be sure to keep you guys updated!

Has anybody gone from Loewenburg to Baptist College Of Health Science on here? I withdrew from Loewenburg this semester. I wasn't doing well at all. I had a 3.75 GPA but that didn't help me from being swallowed up by Loewenburg. I want to try Baptist now. My advisor told me I should look at that option.

I know someone that went to Baptist that never got into Loewenberg. However, I don't know anyone who left the program to go to another school once they got in. What was your reason for leaving? Baptist will certainly ask you, so be sure to explore your reasons and be able to justify why you felt Loewenberg wasn't right for you and why Baptist is a better fit. The content will be hard no matter what, but sometimes it takes a different presentation to help a person "get it". :wink2: Best of luck to you!

Cingly, I wasn't passing so I withdrew from the classes. I had a 3.75 GPA in my general courses(science, math, etc.) I started the Nursing classes this past Jan. I could have stuck with it but I know my limits. I was going to flunk. I mean I know everyone says Nursing is hard, bur I wasn't expecting this. My mom is a director of Nursing. My two sisters are nurses but and all of them were quite shocked when I showed them the load that LBurg has. From what I was told, Baptist has smaller classroom size plus smaller clinical classes which means you can have a better one on one with the instructors when needed. That is my only option besides Northwest CC. The wait at Baptist and having to retake my science courses because they have expired bugs me but I really don't know what else to do. I want to be a Nurse. I just wish I didn't have to go back to square one.

Loewenberg does have big classes, and the first semester is hell. They try to make you think that if you drop any classes your are a failure. I know several people who basically split that first semester in half over two semesters, and then went on as usual in the program. But I will be the first to admit that they need to do something to make the program more approachable and allow students to be more successful. It's obviously do-able, because they graduate students every semester. But they also lose a LOT along the way.

That sucks that Baptist is making you retake some classes. They did they same thing to my friend. Have you considered Union University? Expensive, but they have an accelerated program I think (?). Also, there are some schools in AR that are not that far of a drive (under 1 hour) that may fit your learning style better. But don't give up! You can do it, you just have to find the right school for you.

Yes, Union does have an accelerated program, so does ASU Jonesboro as well as a traditional program. They also have good on campus housing if you can get it. I think Jackson State Community College has an ADN program. ASU also has a program they run out of West Memphis you could look into. Then there is UT which with the wait you may have at Baptist for clinical you might be able to come out of UT with their Masters which doesn't take any longer. Also, I heard a rumor that Dyersburg is starting a Bachelors program, but I haven't checked into it yet. Baptist does have great teacher student ratio. You will find most of the teachers in the Nursing program very willing to help, everyone has their opinions, DECIDE for yourself on any teacher you might have to take. Baptist just changed their curriculum to be more student friendly, and prevent the dropouts that you experienced at LSON. The load got a little lighter for the first few semesters, but they also are very serious about learning. They try to give you opportunities for help, but if you don't have a 77 average in your class by the end of the term, yo have to take it over, and I think you only get two while your there then your gone.

I start clinicals the Sp of 2010, should I take Health Assessment, Intro to Nur, and Pham I?

:nuke: I have a friend who was accepted to bchs in memphis. She had a question, but since i am in another state i couldn't answer. Maybe you guys can help me. She had to do a back ground check and she told them that she was arrested for driving on a suspended license in kentucky back 5 years ago. She said the original ticket was payed, but didnt show payed, anyway end result she was pulled over for an expired tag or something and was arrested for it. The company she did her background sent her a report saying she was flagged red and now she is freaking out on not being able to get into nursing school for a suspended driving license arrest that wasn't her fault in the first place. Can anyone give me any info. on this? Is that school going to keep her out for that? or do they need to know what the arrest is for... I told her that they may just need clarification or something showing paid.. I also told her to call the school... It is hard for me to believe that they would keep her out of school for something that trivial, it isn't like it is a felony or anything involving violence or drugs. If anyone can provide any insite.. It would help her alot...especially, from the students that are going there or have been accepted there....Oh by the wat congrats to all and ggod luck in school!!!!

As far as I know they will ask for clarification about the arrest. She may also have to show the paperwork that clears the matter up. I have a friend at BCHS who had an old arrest for wreckless driving or speeding excessively. He met with them and showed the paperwork that proved that it was clear. I hope this helps.:wink2:
