Banner Nurse Fellows Program

Published

I interviewed for the nurse fellows program through Banner about three weeks ago and still haven't heard anything! I was talking to another girl there for an interview who said that her friend (I know, I know, don't listen to anything like this, but I can't help it!) got a call a week after her interview offering her a slot. Has anyone else interviewed and heard anything?

I don't know why I'm so freaking out about it. I'm already accepted into Mesa to start in January (I deferred) but I WANT TO GET INTO THIS!

I got in, too. I'll be in the Mesa Community cohort this March ;) Anyone else?

Specializes in NICU/PICU/peds.

Wow, this thread has grown since I started it!

Congrats to everyone who got in!

I'm almost done with it all, thank GOD. As long as I pass Block IV, which so far has been the most ridiculously hard block, I'll walk March 6th.

As far as the CGCC group, I work with someone in the NICU (I'm externing there) who is attending the CGCC program and apparently since they are still a new program, there are a lot of bugs to work out. They do have the same curriculum as all the other MCC schools but for whatever reason a LOT of people are failing out. It IS difficult to compare programs to each other, though, because each block at each school has completely different students in it, different teachers, and no matter what anyone tells you, the tests are NOT the same between the instructors, no matter how much they are supposed to be. We've lost about 7 of our original 30 and picked up a few along the way, too, and lost most of those too.

Good luck to everyone still trucking on!

Hello March Cohorters,I received the voucher for my books and a list of things they want copies of. Anybody know anything about our instructors?

Is there a Banner Fellows Program at MCC? Block III in March 08?

No, they did a one time deal of block 3-4 at mcc and didnt find the program as successful (financially) as they thought it would be. My understanding is that from now on, only the full program will be offered at MCC. Now, in 2 semesters, you may have the opportunity to slip into block 3 there. But I have no way to know if that'll be the case.

Oh! I thought they were going to continue Fellows at MCC. Bummer!

I'll look for ya, Julie! As long as I pass.....*bites nails* How is your class doing in Block IV? Our entire class is just barely hovering around a 76% because of the way our last teacher tests and we're all nervous as can be. I had heard that most students pull themselves up with the final.

They ARE going to have a nurse fellows program at MCC from banner. Its just that they held a block 3-4 only this last time (the one I am in) but from now on they are going to hold all four blocks. We started our class with 15, we are down to 12. There are 3 people at risk of failing this semester and our pediatrics did bring everyone down. But overall, most of our class has been LPNs for 5 years or more, so people are doing fairly well.

Looking forward to meeting you on thursday.

For the new fellows, once a semester they hold a conference for banner fellows all over the valley. It gives you the chance to mingle, talk about your experiences, and they do a theme presentation that is an all day thing. After, you can talk to recruiters, work on resume and interview techniques, and talk with the director. It is a great experience!

When is this conference and where do you get information? Shouldn't we have got something regarding it (even if we are new)?? It sounds like fun and I would love to go!!!! :specs:

The director tells the schools when the Conference is, but its for enrolled fellows only. you'll have plenty to go to.
