I am confused. I am going to be applying for the Banner Fellows program to start next year and I was under the impression that they paid for the whole nursing program and you pay them back by working 3 years after u grad for them and you dont have to worry about things like this....do they make u file your own financial aid or how does it work?? Just wondering so I am fully prepared when I apply.
They do pay for everything, but I'm using student loans to cover living expenses. Well, at least a little of them. I went from making $50,000 a year to nothing while I'm in school and it hurts! :) Thankfully I landed an externship so that'll help just a little. Not that externs get paid a lot, but anything helps.
Congrats on your acceptance into the program! How are your classes going? Do you like the pace of the program? Just curious, I'm going for my interview today and I am getting really anxious and excited. I hope I get in!!!
I also had my interview in Sept 2007 and was selected.. for Gateway Banner Nurse Fellows..
Did you get selected Ambugerz?
Thats what I hear alot of people say.. so much reading.
awesome AZscott thanks... so tell me after did you start classes the day of orientation .. or how did that work. I hear block 3 is the hardest... are you working as an extern yet ? how long after you started did you begin clinicals?? And do they give you your uniforms? How does all that work?
Hi cherlee522,
For us, classes started one week after orientation. Clinicals at Long term care started about about 5 weeks later (2 days a week). Acute care clinicals start shortly after Christmas break. You buy your own uniforms from a store in Tempe--they will give you a flyer regarding that at Orientation. I dont know how hard block 3 is. It is pretty fast paced but exciting too.

Hey all,
I know this is probably a stab in the dark, but thought I'd try. Any other Banner Fellows on here who have had to deal with Financial Aid? Gateway is telling me that for Block III, which starts in July for our cohort (X) we won't get our aid until SEPTEMBER since it's considered an early fall class. I don't know what I'm going to do! Anyone else dealt with this?
Thanks!
