  1. Test Success: Test-Taking Techniques for Beginning Nursing Students by Patricia M. Nugent and Barbara A. Vitale. I am going to be starting nursing school in October and I have started reading this book and it is awesome! I really recommend it!!
  2. I am starting nursing school at Gateway CC in October and I want to get a good backpack with wheels(probably a Jansport brand one)...does anyone know where a good place to get one is?? or have any backpack recommendations?? Any input would be fantastic:D
  3. I got my letter today and I GOT IN!! I will be going to Gateway!! Anyone else get into Gateway?? We should meet up before school starts after we get books...anyone interested send me a PM.
  4. I still haven't gotten anything yet either. But the letters were just sent out on Friday so depending on where you live and how long the post office took to process it depends on how long it takes to get it to you. I live in Mesa and it didn't come over the weekend or yesterday so I am thinking it will come today. I am crossing my fingers. Good luck to you too!
  5. I am still waiting as well to get my letter for the July cohort...they told me as well at the interview that letters would not go out till the beginning of may...has anyone that applied that got in received their letter??
  6. I am currently a pre nursing student but I would like to be a NICU nurse and work in a Level III NICU. I have heard there are additional certifications that you need to get before you can work with preemies 28 weeks and below and I was wondering if anyone had any insight to offer me on this. What certifications do you need? What how much experience do you need in order in the field to work with micro preemies, etc?? Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!
  7. I applied for the July start and they start interviews next month. I turned in my application the first week in February and they called me last week to schedule an interview which is in mid March. From what I got at the meeting interviews last from March to mid april and notification is sometime in May. :nuke:
  8. Trying registering for 202 at Gateway CC there are 4 bio 202 classes there and they still all have openings that is where I am taking it at and I love Gateway...much easier to get into Bio classes than MCC.
  9. I am taking: A&P I Microbiology and a CNA training class so I can get certified and start working in the hospital!! I can't wait to start school!!! Good luck to all those starting nursing school and to everyone in their classes!
  10. I am confused. I am going to be applying for the Banner Fellows program to start next year and I was under the impression that they paid for the whole nursing program and you pay them back by working 3 years after u grad for them and you dont have to worry about things like this....do they make u file your own financial aid or how does it work?? Just wondering so I am fully prepared when I apply.
  11. Hey all I am thinking about taking bio 201 online at Rio Salado this summer and I was wondering if anyone taken it or currently taking it could tell me how hard it is and what they thought of the class??? I am retaking this class cause I didnt study the first time and didn't dedicate enough study time to it as needed and took too many other classes with it..but I am rededicated to becoming a nurse and now I plan to study ALOT(and only take this class) and get an A!! So please let me know any imput you can!! Also anyone have the book that needs to sell it?? Thanks!
  12. Thank you so much Selaz!!!
  13. Thanks for the advice. I will definitely consider working less hours..I am thinking 24 hours a week. But I still have a long time till I start the nursing program...hopefully oct 08 and but I am going to start working as a CNA starting this January hopefully. But when I interview for the job I will definitely ask about flexiblilty once I start nursing school. Selaz: Where on banners website did u find that you have to work 32 hours during a pay period?? I cant find it. If you could give me a link to the page you found it on that would be awesome!! Thanks
  14. I don't plan on sharing it with the board but the thing is that I HAVE to work full time when I get my CNA because in order to get full insurance benefits I have to be full time and I will need that insurance cause I wont be able to afford it on my own. I also think being a CNA is very valuable to me succeeding in the nursing program because I will already have the basic nursing skills and will have already seen most of the procedures that I will see in clinicals performed while working. I plan on working the 7am-7pm shift...so if I get that I will still have time to study after work and I wont be that sleep deprived. I don't mind that I wont have that much of a social life...I want to be a nurse so bad I am willing to sacrifice that just a little bit. Also I wont be able to save up enough to pay my rent for 16 months its just not possible with other bills and rent, etc. Also I don't want to not work and miss out on the experience. If the board asks me if I work I will probably fib a bit...but honestly I am just going to stress the fact that it is invaluable information that will help me in nursing school. Also full time as a CNA is 3 days a week which isnt that bad so I figure I will just work the 3 days I don't have school and I know if I get into the Banner program that the hospital will be flexible with my schedule cause I plan on working at Banner Desert. But thanks for the advice not to mention my full time work to the board.
