Hi Everyone,
Just thought I would start a thread for all of us awaiting letters from Baker for Spring/2009. Maybe we can all support each other while we are waiting and share any information that we "have heard" that may be helpful!
Hey Gem I am so sorry,Unfortunately I am with you....I also did not get accepted at baker...oh well, I am NOT reapplying in the fall as that I tore up the letter and said screw it. I will GET INTO MCC somehow, someway....I also can not get FA from MCC. I have been paying my classes, well I should say my credit card has been paying for the classes. I am going to wait until April and see if I get accepted into something at MCC. As for now I am going to find a job, save up some money, pay off my @*&%)#_#* loans from baker and keep going for it.
We are strong, smart and resiliant and we know that we will be great nurses one day. Saying prayers for your friend!
Congratulations to everyone who got in!!!
Laura
Sorry to hear that you did not get in. Keep up hope for MCC, 2 more months and we will know for sure.
After a long day of shopping I came home to the dreaded Baker letter. Man was I nervous to open it. Well....I got in. I'm still a bit in disbelief! It's almost 1am and I can't sleep because I'm so wound up!
Congrats!! I can't believe you were not home waiting for the mailman, I know I would be...lol.
I think you can still apply to Baker after you've taken the NET twice, you just can't re-take it again. Once you complete Baker's pre-reqs and the NET, that's it. You can just keep applying when the dates come up. Unfortunately, they will keep using your same scores/points from each application quarter.
Other options if Baker doesn't work out: MCC, SC4, Mott, HFCC, WCCC, OCC, etc. MCC and SC4 are competition-based with no wait list, whereas Henry Ford has a 12-18 month wait list. Good thing about the wait list is that they want you to take a few pre-reqs while you're waiting to get in, that way you're not waiting around for a year doing nothing. There are, of course, universities, too.
I got the highest points on the NET the first time, so retaking it is pointless for me. Because I "re-took" a class I also can't do anything to make up that point. The only option I have at Baker is to keep re-applying. When my two science classes come up as being over 60 months old, I could re-take them, and improve my score. But I have nearly 3 years for that, at this point.
It would be smart in my opinion to work toward a different school at the same time. If I would have known what I know now, last year, I could have applied to MCC's program last year. I didn't find out about the HESI in time, though. I'm pretty confident, I would have gotten in, if I had. Especially since the only classes you need to apply, you have to already take at Baker.
Good Luck!
I wish I would have found this site before I started!!! Just to let anyone who is planning to start Baker they may not have a list, but they have a wait and MORE! I had credits from another school and had to drop a class, because of these factors I just learned that I may NEVER get into the program. With the max "points" I could EVER get from the list. The last numbers they had apply 185, they took 40, with a low score of 23.3. All the extra students who did not get into the program now will get an extra point. PLEASE don't let them fool you with the no wait list catch that I fell for and make sure you are able to get ALL THE POINTS! Sorry for the vent, but I hope this may help another student before they end up like me with thousands in debt and no chance of a degree:(

I can empathize with this big time. I began posting here around the time I was looking into MCC, and then stopped posting for a while. I started posting again after I made the decision to go to Baker and devoted much time and money into some pre-reqs there. Now I'm faced with having to take additional anatomy classes since A+P I and II at Baker don't "count" for some of the other colleges I want to apply to. :angryfire
Anyway! Did not mean to hijack the thread (again)! Congratulations to everyone who made it in! When do you guys start? What classes do you start with? Do you know when clinicals begin? I'm so excited for all of you who have made it!
