Is it true that waiting months or years to take the NCLEX exam often results in higher chances of failure? This is what one of my instructors told us. She said to take NCLEX immediately and don't keep putting it off because of the amazing amount of information that can be forgotten.
BTW, I scheduled my NCLEX-PN for Tuesday December 13 at 9 o'clock in the morning. I'm feeling the pressure because this examination is so integral to my future as a nurse. I decided to 'just do it' while much of the information is still fresh inside the crevices of my astute brain.

Take the NCLEX when you are READY and not when someone says you should. Keep reviewing regularly and you will be fine. I graduated May 5 of this year and didn't take the NCLEX till the end of August because I felt so burned out. I reviewed throughout August and passed on 75 questions.Good Luck and try not to worry.
according to the nclex site first time test takers pass at about a 80% rate, if taken within 4 months of graduating. At 6 months the pass rate drops to 70% and after one year of graduating the nclex pass rate goes down to 40%. The sooner you take it the better.
My school sent the application in and I recieve a nocticed from the boards about 4.5 weeks later. After I paid the $200, I could of took the nclex immediatly. So about 5 weeks after graduating would be the earliest, IF your school sends everything in right away.
Thanks for the info, five weeks seems a longtime to wait to me. I don't know if I'll be able to stand waiting that long. At least I now know what to expect.
