more bad news once again, lpn-to RN whenever....

Published

Ok, just graduated from an LPN program and passed my boards, however trying to do a bridge LPN-BSN , and checking out my options. Has anyone everyone gone that route through college network and been successful?

Also just found out that the state that i'm living in and Excelsior are going by two different rules. I might have to do 500 clinical hours in another state once an RN license has been obtain, through excelsior. Not sure i want to jump through hoops with excelsior either. it's seems like i'll be purchasing my seat to sit for the NCLEX and even after the $ i dropped, i might still not get through on my CPNE. I need advice. THis is crazy....

College network will put you towards Excelsior or Indiana State University. I understand your frustration. Moving is not an option for you? I feel that EC is more doable than ISU. ISU is fairly new and not that many people have graduated I heard.

thanks for responding, moving is an option, now i'm thinking of heading to neighboring states!

Aren't there any community colleges offering a LPN to ADN bridge program? That is often the cheapest and quickest option. Good luck.

I am doing an LPN - ADN bridge. It is at a well respected university. I would recommend going to your state board of nursing and looking up RN programs in surrounding areas.

i've checked everywhere, they exist but most require 1 year of work, I want to go straight through. The only one that doesn't require 1 yr of work, makes you take additional pre req to get in, spanish and organic chem... which ends up delaying you. ahhhhhh!

Well it isn't unusual to have additiona pre-reqs necessary for your ADN or BSN but I took most of mine while in LPN school to cut down on the time.

I hate the programs that make LPNs have a certain amount of work experience!! They don't make RN students work in the field for any amount of time and we have an extra semester to begin with, grrrrrrr.

Hey Bear,

Sorry to hear of your struggles. I am a paramedic and am taking the bridge program we have here in Orlando for RTs/Medics/LPNs. It is one year long.

I don't know where you live, but at our school, the University of Central Florida allows students in the regular nursing program (18-month nights/weekends, 2-year day track) to simultaneously get their BSN. You co-register and I think there is only one extra mini-semester and you graduate with your Bachelor's. It's a pretty nifty thing. Unfortunately, it's not offered to the FastTrack Transition program students, or I would consider doing it.

My class is 75% online and 25% classes. It's 100% hard work, I can tell you that :coollook:

Good luck to you.

Indiana State is not new at all. It's an actual brick and mortar college that's been around for a long time. The distance track is fairly new but it mirrors the on campus program so it's very similar to a traditional program except you do the didactic online. Same requirements and all.

You are right. I meant to say ISU lpn to BSN's ONLINE program is fairly new. I was looking into it but it's not accepted in my state.

Thanks for correcting that.

I did it. I wasted money that I'm Still paying back. And did not make it now I'm back doing the bridge program. I wish I would have asked that question before I did it. But it over now I believe it will be best to do the bridge program.
