anyone who completed this table,,pls help me,,thank you
^ Yes, Pilipinas. I first submitted my application for eligibility as an RN but unfortunately assessed as not equivalent by the province thats why I have filled up my BET and submitted some other documents. In the meantime, what I did is to have my credentials assessed as an RPN and luckily they have given me the chance to practice here as an RPN after passing my CRPNE. Nursing is so much different in comparison back home. It would be a challenge for us new nurses to adapt.
hi pickles! i started registering as RN in ontario. right now i'm trying to fill up the BET forms. i'm expecting for the worst and that i'll hear from CNO telling me that i will need to do bridging program. so, i called CNO and asked if it's possible that i transfer my RN registration to RPN after i get my assessment decision from CNO (if i won't be eligible to sit CRNE). i was told that i'll have to fill up the RPN application form and pay again for the RPN registration fee. i was hoping that my RN registration fee would just be transferred instead given that it's almost 3 times higher than RPN fee. but i understand that's a whole other procedure.
so Pickles, just wondering what did you do exactly while you were processing for registration as RN? you registered both for RN and RPN at the same time?
hope you can enlighten me with this. thank you!
^ No, I had my first assessment as an RN and I am not qualified. Then, I decided to have my credentials assessed as an RPN to jump start my practice as nurse.
oooh... i'm a little confused. you mentioned in the earlier post that you submitted your BET and while waiting, you registered yourself for RPN?
is your RN assessment still going on or did you opt to not send additional info/documents to CNO and just apply for RPN alone instead?
thank you for the clarification. :)
by the way, can i ask for you yahoo/hotmail so i can IM you? you can PM it to me. :)
Hi jay.. I did reply to your email but here is the answer to your inquiry.
After receiving the reply from CNO that I am not BScN equivalent with the BET forms, I submit another application to be RPN eligible. The reason I did that is because I want to have some option just in case CNO refuses my appeal to become BScN equivalent. That process (RPN) took me 3 mos. of waiting, just in time finishing my courses at George Brown College, in which I took electively as part of knowing and learning nursing practice here in Ontario. I took the exam last year and passed.
As for my RN, CNO did grant the BScN equivalency and they allowed me to take the CRNE. Filling the BET took me a lot of time because I want to do my best in proving myself as BScn equivalent. A lot of revisions, grammar check etc. I did not rush because once your papers are in, you cant take it back. Its a make or break. Moreover, I did send some documents such as my job description, other credentials from my MA back home, and assessment from York University.
Thats it. Hope that helps.

how long did u hear from CNO with the eligibility after u submitted your BET?
did you only fill up another app form for RPN and paid another fee? how about other documents or did they use the documents you sent for RN assessment na?
thank you for the clarification. I'm thinking of doing the same thing you did.

Hi Pickles27,
Have you completed the bridging program for RNs (IEN) before you re-applied for RN assessment?
Regards.
To Jay: I got the reply after 3 months. And yes I filled up another form for RPN and paid the fee as well. I am not really sure about the documents since its been a while since I submitted mine, but I guess they will use the same documents that they already have, just clarify this to them.
And Hampton, no, I did not complete the bridging program for IENs but I took some courses at George Brown College
someone from a thread in a certain site told me that I should read the CNO compendium before I answer the BET for guidelines. a poster mentioned this to me last week too but i wasn't sure what he/she meant.. still not sure.
is it really necessary? did most applicants who got eligible after submitting their BET read this beforehand?
how about you guys who are done with the BET and got eligible to sit CRNE? did you read this or any guide books before filling it up or did you just answer away?
thank you!
Hi jay_j
I didn't get the compendium until after I had received eligibility to sit the CRNE. It's over 400 pages so will take quite some time to read through!!!!
Before I filled out the BET I did have a look at the entry to practise competencies http://www.cno.org/Global/docs/reg/41037_EntryToPracitic_final.pdf
I filled out the answers to the BET off the top of my head first then after reading the competencies I could make sure that I had covered the main points in my answer and tweak them so that it was clear that I had covered the competencies.
Having started on the compendium for the exam a lot of it is about legislation surrounding nursing.
Personally I would say stick to the Entry level competencies for the BET. If you wanted to have a quick look at the compendium the link is http://www.cno.org/en/learn-about-standards-guidelines/publications-list/standards-and-guidelines/
Hope that helps :) Good luck!!
