Azusa Pacific Unversity--accelerated program and working?

U.S.A. California

HI.

I just recently got accepted to Azusa Pacific's new nursing program in San Diego, EENAP.

I was wondering if anyone is already taking the nursing program with Azusa and if you recommend working at the same time.

thanks!

I called the main office today and was told that the San Diego EEAP is 16 months long and that the students get the month of Aug off. So, I guess this means that it's really 17 months from start to finish???

In any case, I was told that the student attends the campus 3 days per week and then has clinicals 2 days each week. I haven't found exact figures but it seems comparable to OU's BSN program but the University has had this program at it's main campus for quite some time. I'm going to apply for Fall 2009. Anybody else have any info to share?

From what I understand, EENAP San Diego program only has a summer 2009 start, and i heard somewhere that the class is full for summer 09, so the next class you can apply to is the spring 2010 class.

You have to double check that, but i think they still do the rolling admission for the EENAP program.

There is also a similar program called the SCAN program which is run at Azusa's main site and you can also get the BSN and MSN whilst studying that program, which i'm told is very similar to the EENAP.

Have a look at the webpage: http://www.apu.edu/nursing/graduate/scan/

SCAN's next class has a fall 2009 start and i think they are still accepting applicants.

That is correct. I spoke to the main office a couple days ago and was told there are a few seats left for Spring 2010. The admissions committee have to meet and make decisions on the current applicants, and yes it is rolling admissions. The only catch with Azusa EENAP is you have to take a biochem/ochem prerequisite. I plan to take Cuyamaca's Chem 102, which is the combined biochem/ochem course and I have confirmed with Azusa they will accept this class.

Someone asked if this is a BSN program. Yes, it is a BSN program en route to an MSN program. They ask that you come back in two years or so to complete the masters portion. You are automatically into that msn program. However if you don't want to return, you don't have to.

Hope this helps.

Do any of you know if you can do pre-reqs at Azusa Pacific for the EENAP program? I am so confused and scared for all this. I wanna get into nursing, but it is crazy how stressful it is to get into a program. Please help, thanks!

Hi,

I don't think you can, the prereqs have to be completed before you can start, and I don't think they offer the prereqs at the San Diego campus. Perhaps at the main campus they can. You might want to check on that. The good thing is they do let you apply while you are finishing up your prereqs. Most schools don't even let you do that. It would be cheapest to do your prereqs at the cc. Check out their website if you are unable to get in contact with someone. Goodluck.

Have any of you been accepted to the EENAP program in San Diego? If you did or didn't could you please tell me what you GPA was and science GPA, plus anything else you put on your application? I'm extremely interested in Azusa's EENAP program in San Diego! It's my #1 choice! I'm finishing up prerequisites currently and so stressed on getting into the program! Thank you! :nurse:

I am actually still finishing up my pre-reqs. But what they told me when I attended a pre-admission counseling session was they only consider your undergraduate GPA for admission purposes, and as long as you get at least B's in the pre-reqs you are fine. They still allow applicants to apply while completing pre-reqs. I graduated summa cum laude from undergrad, no prior medical/nursing experience or science GPA. You may want to attend a pre-admissions counseling session, it may ease your worry.

Halla, I just got accepted to EENAP last week. They told me I could be accepted to San Bernardino in May 2010, but that Fall 2009 was wait listed. My BA (philosophy) GPA was 3.48, but my science and prerequisite GPA was 4.0 (community college), which is what I think got me in. I still have like 5 courses in progress, and organic/biochem to do in the summer, which I thought would hurt me, but apparently not! I think they took me because my fall semester at community college was strong. I don't remember what else I put on my application - I've been volunteering at the hospital for a couple of months (just once a week, and I don't do a whole lot). So I don't think that experience is as important to APU as some other schools.

Good luck!

Hi everyone! I was accepted into the summer-start EENAP program at San Diego. I didn't have the strongest gpa...i struggled my first two years at UCD but got my grades up the last couple years. I did have a decent volunteer experience which I think helped me a lot. I put a lot of effort into my Personal Statement also.

Does anyone know of the reputation of Azusa's Nursing programs?? I'm actually not a Christian but Azusa seems like a really good school so I'm seriously considering it.

Thanks!

UCDAVISTUDENT:

Congrats on getting into Azusa's EENAP program! That's my top choice! Do you mind sharing with me what exactly your GPA was when you applied? I'm kind of in the same boat. I'm finishing up my last semester at UNR and my first two years here, I started off pretty rocky in my classes but have received great grades the last two years. I was wondering if Azusa was going to look at this as a factor.....

I too am not Christian really, but I've heard that since it's a graduate program that you aren't required to go to any church things. I'm pretty sure they just emphasize the importance of good ethics and such into their teachings and it's not pushed on you very much. It is a very very good program though!!! I'm considering as my top simply for that reason! This is a link to the nursing grad school rankings for schools throughout California http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/grad/nur/search/state+CA.

You will notice Azusa down the list. Hope this helps!

Thanks for any info you can provide me with! :) Good luck to you!
