Hi all!
I'm applying for APU's ELM program for Spring 2017 and I was curious to see who else was applying :) maybe we could chat about the application process!
Hi pvirk01, I don't mind at all... please ask all the questions you want, I know I would want the same. The writing prompt was so easy! On the paper it had about 5 other questions and they just circle the one they want you to answer. Mine was something like... If you woke up one day and there were no rules how would the world be? They are all weird questions like that but I was told it is because they want to make sure all your writing matched. Meaning your letter to the dean and your writing prompt. I can't really remember the other ones. A quick word of advice... I was almost an hour early for my interview so when I checked in they told me I could take my time so if anyone is worried I would suggest getting there early. Either way though I only took 18 minutes to write my prompt since she asked for only a couple of paragraphs and it was really laid back. Hope that helps!
Hi MG11B,
I am an over packer for anything so I brought a notebook to write down stuff and I wrote down questions I had that I couldn't find answers to online. She started the interview with having me ask whatever questions I wanted... I had quite a few. My advice is to go prepared by having a few questions to ask and have some paper handy to write down stuff. She was really nice and gave me some cool advice I ended up writing down and at the end she will give you a paper that you sign, which will state what else they need from you if they need anything at all (any pre-reqs or transcripts). I am not sure the exact number they interview but I have heard from other people that there could be 50 interviews and they fill 20 spots with about 5 accepted standbys that will go into the next cohort. You could ask what your chances are when your in there, sometimes they give you a percentage. Hope that helps.
My application is kind of a story in itself! I applied for the previous semester but they lost my documentation of experience, which rendered my application incomplete. I received a call and email stating my application was complete so I had no idea there was an issue until I called to get an update. They had already filled all spots so they just pushed me to the next deadline. So... my application was in October 2015. I am sure this does not help at all but I do suggest you keep in contact with them, as it seems from experience that answers may by available if you are the proactive one. I hope no one else has an interesting story like mine and everything went super smooth :-)
GCNorthRim sorry to hear about the trouble but glad you went on to the next cycle. I'm curious if you interviewed and then found this out or just never heard back and called to find out what happened? I ask because I also received the app completion notice and even interviewed this week. However, during the interview she told me she didn't have the right transcripts with her and seemed confused but assured me she had the right ones somewhere and suggested I talk to the secretary guy. I'm wondering if a similar situation could still happen even after I was selected for an interview and really don't want this to affect me when I know I turned in my transcripts and got the completion notice. Any advice would he helpful!

Congratulations GCNorthRim! I'm glad to hear that it went well.
I have not heard anything back jbradley16. I am not expecting to hear back until maybe the end of March though because today was the extended application deadline.
