Hi all!
I'm applying for APU's ELM program for Spring 2017 and I was curious to see who else was applying :) maybe we could chat about the application process!
I just a call to schedule my interview for next Tuesday at the Azusa campus! He also went over the admissions process with me and explained that everything is based on points. Your undergrad GPA, your prerequisite GPA, your interview, your work experience, any volunteer experience, etc are all worth a certain amount of points and they take the top 20 people with the most points at each campus for that campus' cohort, plus the next 2 - 5 people who are offered admission for the following semester. I'm so excited!
Thank GCNorthRim! Tuesday evening, April 5th :)
I also want to back up what you were saying about calling if you have any questions/issues with your application. While we were on the phone, he realized that he never received a final transcript from one of the schools I attended and it would have put me under the prerequisite requirements needed to apply for this term. It's weird but now that I think about it, I remember requesting the transcript, but I never got any confirmation that they sent it.
I just got back from my interview. I think it went well! It was very relaxed and didn't feel very interview-like, which was nice. Before I left I asked her how my application compared to students who are typically admitted to the program and she essentially told me that it was good, but not great which is what I expected (I did pretty poorly my first few years of college). She also told me how I could improve my application if I do not get admitted to this term. I get the impression that they really want to help you get into the program :)
Hi pvirk01! I had my interview at the main campus in Monrovia. I got brought up to her office as soon as I finished my writing prompt, which took me around 20 minutes. I was asked why APU, why nursing, what my strengths and weaknesses are, and to describe the last time I had a conflict with someone or made a mistake and how I dealt with it. She had several questions on a sheet of paper and it looked like she just picked some to ask and then recorded my answers. After that, she explained the program in detail, went over what I was still missing as far as prerequisites, and asked me if I had any questions. It didn't take very long...maybe a little more than 30 minutes, so in total the whole process takes about an hour.

Hi BR89,
I would definitely give them a call. I only called because I had not heard from them to get an interview so it is a little different. From what I understand, after the interview all the campuses get together and go over the files and select who will fill the cohort so if you are not sure your file is all together I would make sure it is before May when they make the decisions. It is kind of sucky to have to keep checking but it is better to keep checking then write it off and not get in. I hope it all works out and it is smooth sailing!
