Azusa Pacific University ELM Spring 2017

Published

Hi all!

I'm applying for APU's ELM program for Spring 2017 and I was curious to see who else was applying :) maybe we could chat about the application process!

Hello! @mkhdooo said that he called the school and we would hear back about interviews towards the end of March. And I went to an information session a few months back and they said they usually let people know if they've been accepted or not in early May. That seems so far away!

I am also applying for the March deadline. Just wanted to ask, what gpa are competitive. If you do not mind sharing that would be helpful.

Hello! I'm not sure what a competitive GPA would be. I'm assuming anything above a 3.00.

I would suggest to call the graduate office and they can probably give you the average GPA of students that were accepted into the program!

I hear the cohort for each campus is about 20 people? I wonder how many applicants there actually is cause 20 seems so small, aha.

That's a good idea, I didn't even think of that haha.

And yeah, each cohort is only 20 people. When I went to the info session they said that they usually have 5 people apply for each spot available in the cohort. I think Azusa is the most popular campus, so I heard that if you say that you are willing to attend one of the other two campuses, your chances are slightly higher.

Oh, are you saying that five people compete for every one spot? That is interesting to hear!

Yup! It's a little nerve wracking, but compared to medical school or some PA programs it's not too bad :) I went to an info night for a PA program a while back and the had 2,500 people apply for 20 spots!

Hi Everyone,

I applied for Spring 2017 at the San Diego campus and received a call for my interview the day after the deadline closed. This might be because I applied for the semester before that and part of my application was lost so I was assured I would get to the interview stage first with no guarantee acceptance of course. I have an interview this Tuesday ahhhhhh! I am beyond excited about this program... I do not think there is a better one out there!

As for the competitive GPA, it depends on which process you are talking about. Azusa picks apart transcripts. They take a whole GPA, just science GPA, and non-science GPA. Either one needs to be high or you will have to abide by a strict rule to receive a certain grade in each course (if they accept 2.7 GPA's) I have a 3.9 overall and I think a 4.0 in science but I can't be positive. They accept 20 students per cohort and an additional 5 as standby's that are automatically accepted into the next semesters cohort. I was also told that April is the time we may see our acceptance or denial letters.

I hope this helps and I wish everyone the best of luck :-)

Good Luck, You have no problem getting in. Let me know how your interview goes! :)

Best of luck with your interview! :)

I just got home from my interview. The Dr that interviewed me was so so nice and it was not stressful at all! Anyone who is stressed about the interview... I assure you it is so easy and very friendly. We chatted for over an hour and it was refreshing and informative. The writing prompt was easy. There was about 5 or 6 questions on the paper and the one you are suppose to answer is circled so there is no need for preparation. They are easy simple convo questions. I was asked if I had questions, why nursing, why APU, and a conflict situation I was in and how I handled it. Super easy and rather fun. I asked what my chances were and she said she can't give guarantees but that I have a very strong file and to relax. I am very relaxed and now I will wait that dreadful 2 months until May when I find out!

Thank you for the information GCNorthRim. I am glad your interview went well! :)

Has anyone else gotten an interview or have any information regarding this program?
