Hello all,
I'm applying to APU's NP program this January and am sooo excited and nervous! I'm really trying to get accepted to start in Fall 2011 as I don't want to wait until spring 2012. This is my first choice (I've already applied to another school here) and I've GOT to get in! Is anybody out there waiting for decisions or has advice for the application process? I would've applied sooner, but they just implemented a rule where you have to have 12 completed credits for science, so I had to wait until grades got posted.
WOOHOO! CAN'T WAIT TO START!
Hi fellow aspiring nurses! I applied for Fall 2012 @ APU's main campus exactly on the deadline due date. There was mix-ups with my transcripts all getting there on time and it was a crazy hassle for me to send everything overnight, etc!
I never received a call regarding an interview and I know that is a requirement. I'm wondering if any of you never had an actual interview but still got accepted. I'm hoping there is still a chance for me. Also, I also read in the thread that they ran out of interview spots late October...is this true?
Any info would be great! Thanks all! Good luck everyone! :)
Would anyone currently in/completed the program like to elaborate on their experience?
What is the schedule like for the pre-licensure portion of the program? Are classes during the day/evening/online? Are clinicals incorporated into classes, or are the first 4 semesters strictly didactic? Are classes difficult, how often are exams? Is there enough time to study?
For the post-licensure portion of the program, can one work as a FULL-time RN (38hr/week) AND complete the program as a FULL-time student within two years? At that point, are all classes on-campus?
Answers or any insight would be grrrreatly appreciated. Thank you!
Hey Vulupes
Although I am not a current student, I have been in contact with a current student so I think I can answer a few of your questions. The class times vary each semester, but typically 2 days of the week you will be in class all day (8-4) and then possibly off 2 days, and then clinical's which can be on the weekend. You start clinical's 3 weeks into the program, so very quickly and yes they are incorporated into the classes. You can work full-time during the masters portion, but depending on your personal life and responsibilities some opt to go part time because it can be very over-whelming. All-in-all in regards to exams and what not she said you really have to in charge of yourself and make studying your priority. Things won't be handed to you and you really have to be pro-active for your own studies and success. Hopefully this helps you out a little :)
Hi Queenie! I know what you mean! When did you submit your application? And when did you have your interview. I submitted my complete package just before the due date and never even got an interview. I emailed the counselor for Azusa and she replied on 01/06/12 that final decisions have been made and that we should get notification within the month. I thought within the month meant January and it's now February and still nothing!
I don't know anyone else who has applied to main campus. I was hoping I would meet people on this site.
My interview wasn't really an interview, it was more of an advising session. The prof. I met with just went over the ELM program and also my application, just to make sure everything was complete.

I got my email on Wednesday and haven't gotten another email or call yet. Maybe I should call myself. Did you call the person you met with for the advising session/interview or the administrative assistant? Oh, congrats by the way !!
