Hi, does anyone have an idea of what the latest statistics on average mileage per day per nurse are? HOme health line published a study in 01 that it was seventeen (not on my easiest day, lol), administrator just quoted 12 per patient and think he's full of @#$#......................just wondering if anyone knows, thanks

I can only speak for myself. I do on average 20-40 miles a day, but usually I work in my own zip code or close to it. My agency tries hard to keep visits geographically close in proximity. A few nurses have their own "buildings" so they do all the visits there. One day, I spent my whole day in one parking lot, went from one bldg w 4 vs to another w 3. Broke for lunch at home in between. My agency also only covers one county. Big difference.
thanks hoolihan, that helps

Hahahahahah I never put less than 100 miles per day when I left home health in august but our service area was 7 counties. Most days it was 150. That is why since I was not paid for drive time I left. Even 50 would have been heaven.

It is easy for me to travel 50 to 100 kms (don't what that is in miles). We get four dollars for travel allowance per visit. We can had our car expenses and cell phone on our income taxes. We have to use our own car.
I really miss the hospital.

I have been doing this only a short time but my record for milage in one day is 292 (2 visits).
We get .34 per mile. I've been taking the bike (charts in the saddlebags and nursing bag on the luggage rack) and get about 40 mpg. So it's worth it.
Last week I had 645 miles.
