  1. I have never worked with dyes in feeding tubes. Probably a good idea if the patient is at risk for aspirating.
  2. It is easy for me to travel 50 to 100 kms (don't what that is in miles). We get four dollars for travel allowance per visit. We can had our car expenses and cell phone on our income taxes. We have to use our own car. I really miss the hospital.
  3. Whenever I get neck pain, it is due to the lack of exercise (only because I had whiplash and had a MVA). I would suggest doing some neck exercises on your own until physio plus a muscle relaxant and heat.
  4. This is one of the reasons why I left Home care. AT one house, which was over a store/restaurant, there were cockroaches everywhere!! Ceiling, floor, furniture. It was DISGUSTING. I reported to the agency. I didn't want to go back. I have also seen snakes, ferocious dogs, and other odd creatures. Do I want to go back to home care?? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.......... What would I do?? Think about not doing home care anymore. Or ask myself, are these creatures worth while dealing with?? Teach the patient about living in a sanitary environment?? Lee:p
  5. one of our trusty trucks acts funny although good vehicle any how ( something like that)

Wow, that is pathetic that people would fake being sick. Take up beds for those who really need it. It is no wander emergencies are always full. Everybody comes in for every little cut or scrape.
  7. It sounds like psychosocial stuff Standards of practice
  8. I used to work on a medicine floor. That is where I started working nights for the first time. For the last four months I worked a rotation of two weeks nights and two weeks days. Twelve hour shifts. It was hard to adjust to the routine of doing both nights and days and to do twelve hour shifts. I found I prefered working at night. Nights are busy. Patients don't always sleep at night because they are sick and require assistance to the washroom or for other reasons. The day staff (the nurses who never worked nights) started to complaint that the night never did anything. Which is totally false. It frustrated me that these nurses didn't respect the night staff and the nurse manager didn't support the night staff. I can say from experiences, the night shift is busier at times(patients climbing out of bed, patients screaming, patients wandering). I also worked with a good team of nurses at night. During the day, there are some nurses who I wouldn't feel comfortable working with. Therefore, nights were more enjoyable for me because I worked on a good team, there were no doctors, dietitians, clinicial nurse educator, nurse manager, or pharmacist to come and interrupt your work.
  9. The basic rate is 21.75 for the first year. In April it will increase to 22.44. Each year your pay should increase. The highest pay you can get is 33.71.
  10. I recently had an interview. It wasn't has bad as the ones described here. The questions were good, questions I would expect to be asked. The interview was with the manager. She asked what were my strengths, what would my coworkers say about me, and what would my manager say my strengths were. There were no weird questions or irrelevent questions.
  11. Where I work, we get paid time and a half plus get a day off (a stat holiday).
