Average GPA acceptance for Penn Valley ADN program?

U.S.A. Missouri

Published

Hi! Okay so I am planning on applying for the Penn Valley ADN program in August for Spring 2014. They have changed things quite a bit and base the applicants off of the prerequisite GPA and if you've taken Micro. I am currently sitting at a 3.1 GPA and am retaking Physiology this summer. Hopefully this will bring me up to a 3.3 GPA and I've already taken micro. What are the chances of me getting in? I also have all of my general ed classes done so I'd literally be a part-time nursing student. PLEASE let me know! Thanks!!

Can those of you who are in the program tell me what I will need? Stethoscope (any specific requirements)? Anything I can start collecting in advance? Type of shoes (would like to break them in a little)?

i am apply for the day ADN program this August, 2015 and expect to get in with 4.8 total points.

Any input on what to expect would be great.

Thanks!

I was curious with the compass test, is it still required to retake even if I took the classes I needed based on that test? Anyone know?

Hey Amber if your compass test is 3 years or older you have to retake it even if you have already completed the requirements.

What's the reasoning for that, seems strange to me.

What math class did you take before applying? It doesn't really say much about math.

It depends on what you test into. I tested into Math 20 so I had to complete Math 20, math 40, and college Algebra. I think you need to have College Algebra

I'm not sure why I don't understand why either they just want all your test up to date.

I'm fairly certain you need College Algebra (MATH 120) for the Penn Valley nursing programs.

I ended up calling, only need 110. Yay!

That's good news! :) Good luck with that and the rest of your prerequisites.

Just took a look at the graduation requirements for the professional program. If you test at or above the placement level of 60 in Algebra on the compass no math is required for graduation. Chem 105 or Biol 100 were the only classes that showed Math 20/20L or appropriate placement test. So if you test well you wouldn't need any math. I think most people struggle and end up having to take the math. But Math 110 is not listed as a requirement for graduation or as a requirement for admission to the professional program. The practical program may be different, I am not as familiar with it.

I spoke with the lady for the professional nursing program yesterday afternoon who advised math 110 needs to be done.
