Average GPA acceptance for Penn Valley ADN program?

Published

Hi! Okay so I am planning on applying for the Penn Valley ADN program in August for Spring 2014. They have changed things quite a bit and base the applicants off of the prerequisite GPA and if you've taken Micro. I am currently sitting at a 3.1 GPA and am retaking Physiology this summer. Hopefully this will bring me up to a 3.3 GPA and I've already taken micro. What are the chances of me getting in? I also have all of my general ed classes done so I'd literally be a part-time nursing student. PLEASE let me know! Thanks!!

I am applying for the ADN program that is scheduled to begin in Spring of 2014 as well. I have a 4.0 in all of my nursing prerequisites, but unfortunately do not and will not have microbiology done before the applicatoin period. I am nervous, because no matter what, I can only obtain 4 out of the 5 points needed to gain admission to the program.

Did you apply for the day or evening program?

You might have a better chance of getting an actual answer to your question by calling the admissions counselor. S/he probably won't give you an answer on your particular admission decision until it's released from committee, but should be able to say something like, "Our minimum admission GPA is X; last year's admitting GPA averaged X + .4." Or whatever.

I don't know what "base the applicants off of the..." means.

If you are really dying to know if you will be admitted, you have the option to wait to find out, like waiting for your birthday-- you know when it will come. You can also hedge your bets by applying to more than one college.

I applied for the day program. I turned in my application on Aug.1. I am sitting at 4 points as well. Which program did you apply for?

I applied for the day program as well. I have been sifting through the allnurses.com posts trying to get a feel for the timeline that others have received their responses, and some have been less than encouraging to look at. I have 4 points for my grades, but cannot obtain the 5th point for micro. I had to take A&P over the summer. I guess I will just continue to hope for the best. Maybe we will see one another there. :-)

Yeah, its hard because the requirements have completely changed within the last year. This is the only program I applied to so I'm hoping for the best!! I think 4 points is considered competitive so I think we are at a good standing! Late September cannot come soon enough.... lol!

Did you hear from someone that it would be late September that we would know something by? I am wondering mostly because after reading through some of these from years past, it looks like people had waited up to three months!

I actually just called and I got the answer of, "sometime in October. "

I called and they said letters will be mailed out in the next week!!!!

Let me know when you get your letter and if you got in!!

I just received my acceptance letter in the mail today.

I just got my acceptance letter today too!! Yay!!!
