AVC LVN Fall 2022

Published

Hi everyone! I’m currently a student at AVC wanting to apply to the LVN Program for next fall. I know it’s a bit early to make this topic since the applications for next year aren’t available yet and the classes for this fall’s program hasn’t started.

I actually created this topic because I wanted to discuss about the requirements needed for this program. I have already done all the coursework that is stated in the application except that I currently am not holding any degrees. What I wanted to know is if I would be able to get into the program by just submitting my high school and AVC transcript along with my Education plan with those completed courses without any degrees. Also, if anyone knows, what is the minimum amount of points to get in?

Other than that, feel free to use this topic to ask any questions or to voice any concerns you guys might have about the program. Some things may be confusing for some people so let’s help each other out! ?

To add, I just received an automatic response from the counselor's email stating she is out of office until the 16th of May.

If nothing is heard back by the end of the week I think I may give the office a call just to ask.

Haven’t heard anything either. I also emailed ------------------------ to see if she knew anything. But I honestly think they might still be reviewing the applications. The RN program recently graduated last week so maybe they were busy with that. Also I think the Students who applied for the RN program this year also said they were supposed to receive something around the same time LVN were supposed to but they haven’t received anything yet either. Crossing my fingers we hear some news soon??Maybe a lot of students applied this year. But all positivity here!

I haven’t heard anything either. I was also looking through the RN thread to see if any of them heard anything back, but it seems from what I’ve read, they are still waiting too. I’m not sure though, but I don’t wanna lose hope just yet.

Wait ------------------------------ isn’t in until May 16?

Right, that's what her automatic email reply states. She's out from the 06th-16th

Hey quick question do you guys know how long it takes the transcript office to put in the classes you took at another college onto the avc transcripts?
Not sure how it works but I took nutrition at COC so I turned in those transcripts to the transcript office at AVC in February in order to apply to the lvn program but I’m not sure how to check if it’s been added to my transcripts or anything.

I also turned in the transcripts with my application so I really hope it doesn’t affect my chances of getting in the program.

Thanks in advance. Also Summer session starts Monday so hopefully we all can get some answers soon this week about the lvn program. ?

I don’t think the course will transfer to an AVC transcript. What happens is that a counselor has to evaluate previous college transcripts to see if they are transferable to AVC. If they are they will add it to your ED plan rather than an AVC transcript because that course was taken at a different school, if I am correct.

I was a Cal State LA student prior to applying at AVC so all my courses were taken over there. When I tried moving everything to AVC, I met with a nursing counselor to check if all my courses were transferable and she made an ED plan for me. That was when she added all my courses that were transferable and checked them off.
I think that was why one of the requirements in the application was having the ED plan made by a counselor to make sure all courses were met.

hope this helps! ?

Thank you. Helped a lot.
Now that I look at the ED plan I turned in with my application it shows I was taking physiology at the time (not completed yet). That was when I talked to the counselor about taking nutrition at coc during their Winter semester bc she said that would be the time to take it to be able to apply to the program in time this year, she also told me which nutrition course is transferable and that many students took that course before for the program.

I really hope they really consider & look through the transcripts as well and not just the ED plan because I sent both avc and coc transcripts along with the application bc those show that those courses were completed.

I hope they are throughly looking at everything as well including any extra certifications we have since my ED plan did not mention my CNA cert. I took anatomy, physiology and Microbiology at LA southwest before applying and meeting with Quesada. I went online RN to check the unofficial transcripts since I also sent my transcripts back in early Feb and perhaps because they are unofficial they have not uploaded them. I wonder though how long it takes for that to be uploaded there because I have my COC info in there from way back in 2014.

I may give the transcript office a call tomorrow to find out the answer to that question.

Hey guys! Has anyone heard anything yet? I just tried calling, but I was only able to leave a voicemail. I also sent an email to the program coordinator and I’m currently waiting for a response.
