Australian drug reference

Hi does anyone know what kind of book I should buy that covers all the info we need for the medications we give. They all seem to be American or very expensive. Have tried to get the MIMS from local doctor and my work but they aren't available. Tanks

An excellent guide is this book:

Australia New Zealand Nursing Drug Handbook (5th Edn) by Lim, Glass and Smithson. A very comprehensive and excellent reference. Lists all the drugs, side effects, mechanism of action, dosages in adults/children, etc. And small enough to carry around. It cost me less through my university but is usually about $30.00 and worth every penny. Unsure who the publisher is, could be Springhouse. Angus & Robertson should have it or Dymocks or other large book stores.

Sorry this is so large, couldn't get the text to reduce in size!

Is there an iphone app of an aussie drug handbook?

would be double pricey for me as I don't have an iphone. LOL. but I will look for the book in the uni book shop. Thanks

has anyone used the AMH book. It looks really good but dear at $160 but I would prefer an aussie one, and would buy it only once not once a year.

Get: Harvards Nursing Guide to Drugs, by Adriana Tiziani.

I Know its says Harvard's but it is all the Aussie stuff in The book and it is printed here. Not sure on the price but it was easily under $100. Just found it on Ebay for around $50. E-Mims is most up to date and current but of course a subscription is required. If you want a paper mims try pharmacys and see if the have one but they are getting phased out in favour of the online version.
