Austin Community College 2019

Hi Everyone!

I did not see a thread for applicants for spring 2019! I know its a bit early but since the deadline is in July I figured I would start a thread so we could talk about acceptance, application stats, etc. I'm planning on applying once I take my HESI. I hope to get in but I'm so worried!

How are ya'll feeling?

Hi y'all! Glad to have finally found the current years page. I just got my petition email. I've always been told that that's an indicator of acceptance, but on the email it says it's not a guarantee. So, does anyone else know any more about this? Does everyone get a petition for 1105 once they've submitted an app?

I have read that as well, so it has been hard not to get my hopes up! I'm just glad to be getting onto the next step (skills class). I'm not sure, but I don't think that everyone who applies gets a petition. If your gpa isn't high enough then they won't even review your application. If anyone else has anymore info, let us know!

Hey guys, so first of all, congrats into applying into the ACC nursing program. I'll be starting Level 2 in August and I have to say it's been tough, but totally worth it. So as you may know. In order to apply for the program you have to have all pre-reqs and a GPA of at least 2.5. Well, for someone who's grades weren't the best and got into the program first round, I can say don't stress too much. If you did well on the HESI, and a decent GPA and have co-reqs, your pretty much in. My rank was a 33, and my GPA sucked. But I did well on HESI and had co-reqs. Letters probably won't go out until October, so don't stress. Extensions are pretty common now for the program for applications. Just study well for 1105, practice ALOT and study medication administration for Level 1 (non IV calculations), such as oral or injection. Piece of advice as well, if you have an eligibility problem with TXBON, submit a Declatory Order now, it takes about 3 months to get a response. Good luck! The teachers at Eastview are awesome, the sweat and tears are worth it, and the people you meet are just the best. If you have any questions, let me know!

Thank you so much! I'm definitely feeling better . I have all my coreqs done, my gpa is okay, but I did really well on the HESI. You're right though, no use stressing about the letters! Just need to focus on this class. Mine is from August to October so it'll distract me lol. Thank you again for the tips! You've definitely eased my mind.

I'm so glad! The Nursing community at ACC is pretty great so I know for myself that helped ease a lot of anxiety. I found 1105 to be really fun and enjoyable, its an easy A if you study and practice the skills a lot. Its not hard like the program but it will tell you whether your suited for nursing or not. Get yourself your own stethoscope and blood pressure cuff to practice at home, but while in class, utilize their dinky teaching scopes because they are the ones you get tested with both in 1105 and during mastery check off first week of Level 1. You've made it here. ACC is really awesome! What campus is your preference?

Thank you so much for the tips! I appreciate that.

Round Rock is closer to my house but I've heard that the classes there are harder than Eastview.

So I took A&P I and II at a different community college and will be transferring it in. Im registered for micro and pharm for the fall and after that I'll be done! I really want to get two A's to bring my GPA up because I'm not too good at standardized test taking. I'm still currently in my A&P II class and it looks like I will probably get a B. Did any of you do your prerequisites at ACC? If so who did you take for Micro and Pharm? Do you think I'll be able to pull an A in these classes?

So is there a.big difference between the teachers at each campus? I was on the fence about which.campus but reading this makes me wonder! Ha Thanks for any tips :)

Are we able to take different classes at different campuses or do they lock us into one campus for the entirety of our 4 semesters?

Hey guys! How hard was the Hesi? I'm taking it tomorrow and nervous

YES there is a BIG difference! I'm about to start Level 4 at EVC and every semester (I kid you not) we have gotten an average 3 transfers from RR so, I would highly suggest picking EVC or CEC.

They will extend the deadline probably until October. They have done this every year, so don't sweat it.

You're at the same campus for all four levels. Classes are typically Monday and Tuesday from 8-12 and then clinical is either two days with 6 hrs (levels 1 and 2) or one 12 hour shift (levels 3 and 4) Wednesday-Saturday.

It's an AMAZING program. All the hospitals in our area will take an ACC student nurse over another student nurse from the other programs any day ....which you will hear that a lot in clinical :) It's hard work and sometimes you'll tell yourself- I can't do this- but you can and it will totally be worth it!

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!! Please feel free to ask me questions.
