Hey You GUYS!!!!! WOO! Getting closer!!!

Question! Especially for you current student nurses!!

I went to Total Uniforms and ordered scrubs today! I got some urbans and greys anatomy...the lady was really helpful and pulled all the different styles for the acc program. My question is, the greys anatomy were a slightly darker teal then the urbans and landaus I tried on...will they look a little off?? The uniform lady told me that a lot of people get the greys anatomy, but just thinking back I was a little nervous. I told her I'd come back for her if I strutted in on my first day and was the only one wearing the off color HAHA!! I just ordered today so if those of you who are currently in the program think those might be a little off, then I will just go back tomorrow and change up my order! THANKS in advance for any advice you have!!!!!!

And THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH for those of you who are currently in or have graduated from the program already! It is so very kind of you guys to take the time to offer so much helpful advice to us newbies!

You're welcome!! No problem! As long as the scrubs are teal color you will be fine. The uniform shop has been doing ACC uniforms for years and they would not steer you in the wrong direction. I had some girls in my class wear really fancy, frilly, teal ones that I had never seen before. For all the male nursing students out there, insider tip, get the teal cargo pants!! I utilized almost all of my pockets in clinical. Oh, and a friend bought me a folding clipboard before I started level 3 and it was so invaluable!! I could just fold it up with my papers attached and slip it in my leg pocket and enter the patient's room and not have to worry about leaving it in the room when I left.

BrookeACC - Since we're both in Hybrid would you like to meet up sometime in the lab and go over our skills? I took Nursing Skills last Fall so it's been close to a year!!

I also kinda wanted to get the Grey's srubs because I've seen them in the past and they look more comfortable. But now I guess I'll look into the cargo because that sounds awesome! Let me know if that's something you may want to do :)

Oh GoshoJosh! I definitely will get together and do skills practice! I just took it in the spring, so it's still semi fresh, but thats good cause when I help others to remember it helps me too! Three other girls from my nursing skills class are in the hybrid as well, so we were thinking about getting together. I'm willing to start getting together soon too, I dont want to wait until only the week before....I do plan on going for sure the week before, but I dont want that to be my FIRST time reviewing! The sooner the better in my opinion, to start getting a feel of it again!

Plus, there were two different greys anatomy styles...I did end up getting one that has one side cargo pocket....I work in the hospital now, and though I'm not a student, I dont want a million things in my pockets cause I dont like the feeling of having all this weight in my pockets, especially pants pockets! Who knows though, I may be whistling a different tone soon. Plus the greys anatomy were really soft and a little cuter in cut...but alas, we're not there to be super models!

Protip -- Lab Tests Online: Welcome! is the same sort of info as the lab values book, but free. I used to access it on the computers at the hospital or on my phone during clinicals. And it's great for homework.

Very cool. My lab partner from nursing skills got accepted this round but deferred because she decided she wanted to try for medical school... which is awesome for her but there goes my practice buddy!

I don't think allnurses will let me private message anyone because I guess my account is too new. Let me know on here I guess if y'all make any plans to go to lab.

I was just wondering do u start wearing scrubs in nursing skills or level 1?

Nursing skills. However, you don't have to wear the teal ones used in Levels 1, 2, 3, and 4 until you actually start Level 1. At least that is the way it was when I took Nursing Skills last fall.

Hi Radiation,

I was wondering if you could give me some direction with regards to the textbooks. The Mosby's Manual of Diagnostic & Laboratory Tests, Nursing Drug Guide & Nursing Diagnosis Handbook are all available in digital form. I have the Fundamentals of Nursing in Digital form and it has worked out OK, but I wasn't sure whether or not you thought it might be better for study purposes to have these in hardcopy.

The Test Taking Techniques book is recommended but not required. Do you feel this is needed?

Also the HESI Case Studies Book? I have no idea what this book is but there isn't really a description and I wasn't sure if I needed it.

Any information you could give me would be awesome!

Hmmmm good question, I have them all in regular hardcopy. It might come in real handy to have them in digital format if they fit on your phone and then you can access them in clinical without lugging them around.

Test taking techniques book....ehhhh I never got it. If level 1 is the same as it was for me, they give you a link with awesome videos on how to take nursing tests. The strategies they give you like...."you can eliminate answers on nursing tests with the words "always or never" and tips like that. It is through blackboard.

The HESI case studies....is that the one which is just a digital access for 2 years?? If so, they pulled that crap with us and told us it was mandatory for the second 8 weeks of level 1 and I purchased it but to this day, and I'm entering level 4 this august, I haven't even used it. I believe I may have accessed it once last semester to help me study some OB material but that was it. It may change for ya'll but just ask.
