Austin Community College ADN Spring 2020

Published

Hi pre-nursing students!

So I know it's extremely early but I figured I'd go ahead and start a thread for Spring 2020 applicants. I'm a huge worry bug and have tons of questions and would love to give and receive advice throughout this process. I'm completing my last two prerequisites this spring and will be applying when the application opens on May 15th! Tell me about your journey and ask questions about mine!

I must be a complete moron and probably should re-evaluate wanting to enter the program, cause I STILL don’t understand. Where did the 7 come from and how is the hesi only worth 10 if they are counting your a&p, math and reading comp scores?

The 7 represents pre req + co reqs 7 is the most you could have and 4 is the least you multiply that times you GPA for just the pre reqs. For the HESI you get points based one what your average is for AP, math and reading. So 90-100=10 points, 80-89 = 7 points, 75-79 = 4 points.

Hope that helps.

215 is the total all together for applicants. because when I got the ranking it says 182 out of 215

Hey y’all just wanted to let you know that Total Uniform offers ACC nursing students a really great discount. I went ahead and got some uniform scrubs because it’s tax free this weekend. They are super nice in there!

As far as price, I got two sets of healing hands yoga line with the patches for $115. Same price as they are online!

Ha! It's a confusing calculation.

Nursing GPA x the number of Pre-reqs AND co-reqs you've taken. Max number of 7.

HESI is an average of the three.

Plus review points.

So my calculation is this:

3.43 GPA x 7 = 24

94 on HESI = 10

Review = 6

Total = 40

That’s an awesome deal! I’m almost worried that if I went a head and got the teal ones I would be getting my hopes up. All this talk about points (I believe I have a 37.20) has me worried! So for skills I went with black scrubs to match my shoes.

After the post yesterday, I feel super confident with my 39-40 points (depending on how ethics finishes out) so I did a little treat yo self. I love teal anyways ?

Same. If they took 35 and above, even if all 55-65 people re-applied, they'd have max 39 points now with their extra review points so new applicants with 39-40 look good! I finally feel confident.

Good point! My hubby is telling me to stop worrying so much but I’m a stress ball when it feels like I’m batting in the dark! Guess if 37.22 isn’t enough this time, next time that 42.22 should be ;). Just wish we would know before October.

A little off topic, but does anyone have an idea of what our schedule will look like once in the RN program? Like classes + clinical hours

Does anyone know of its possible to change ur section for skills if you've already signed up for a payment plan ? It's the same class same price so I dont think there should be any issues?? please let me know if you have experience with this, I've never switched a section after registration or payment. Thanks!

Have you guys received emails yet?? I haven’t gotten one but it’s looks like spots are filling up?

Go to self-service and look under petition and waivers. Our petitions got put in the system a day before the emails went out.
