Austin Community College ADN Spring 2020

Published

Hi pre-nursing students!

So I know it's extremely early but I figured I'd go ahead and start a thread for Spring 2020 applicants. I'm a huge worry bug and have tons of questions and would love to give and receive advice throughout this process. I'm completing my last two prerequisites this spring and will be applying when the application opens on May 15th! Tell me about your journey and ask questions about mine!

Just applied on Wednesday! but I don't finish my last pre req till aug 12. when do you think I would hear for a petition or when I should try to see if i can register?

I'm not sure how it works if pre-reqs aren't done yet but on self service you can check your petitions. It will say if your application has been accepted and if you are given permission to register for nursing skills.

I wish we knew how many reapplicants there are for this round? There are 144 seats for the skills class and there are currently like 30 left so that means about 114 ppl have signed up for skills . And they take what 150 into the program? Application deadline is aug 12. Do yall think another 30 ppl could apply by then? And if they do that doesn't even include all the reapplicants? Ugh??‍♀️ starting to feel doubtful with my 37 points

A lot of applicants will be reapplying that have already taken skills. And they’ve got those extra 5 points.

I decided long ago that I’ll get in whenever the universe elects it is my time. Depending on how this ethics course goes (the professor has yet to post a single grade ugh) I will have 39 points if I get a B, 40 if I get an A. I’ve heard the cut off range between 37 and 40 pretty consistently.

@shb6 i Think reapplicants usually get the first wave of petitions for skills and also don’t forget that some re-applicants have already taken nursing skills. I had a few people in my nursing skills class who were taking it but weren’t accepted into the program. Honestly, I think 37 is good but I guess it depends on other people’s grades. On my nursing skills class out of the people who were accepted I believe the lowest I heard was 35.

This is so relevant to what is going on in my brain! I have a B in Micro right now but if I take the voluntary exam 4 to replace my abysmal Exam 1 grade, chances are I'll get an A. My brain completely fried though and I'm tempted to just take the B. That'll put me at 39 though, instead of 40.99, and I'll be so mad if I don't get in because I left points on the table.

@BunnyRose13 I think you’re golden either way. I had a B in micro and got accepted my first time. I made an A on the Hesi. My overall ranking was 41.96. The highest you could get is 44 so I think 39 is pretty good. Most of the people I know got in with 35-38

Were most people who got accepted in your cohort first time or second time applicants?
