Austin Community College ADN Spring 2020

Published

Hi pre-nursing students!

So I know it's extremely early but I figured I'd go ahead and start a thread for Spring 2020 applicants. I'm a huge worry bug and have tons of questions and would love to give and receive advice throughout this process. I'm completing my last two prerequisites this spring and will be applying when the application opens on May 15th! Tell me about your journey and ask questions about mine!

It would be so cool if some of us had skills together at Cypress and then ended up in the cohort at RRC! Head start on study group!

That would be awesome!

Does anyone have any recommendations for scrubs and shoes?

I like my Cherokee Workwear scrubs and Alegria shoes. My current shoes sparkle though so I have to buy a new pair. I'll stick with Alegrias.

Just applied on Wednesday! but I don't finish my last pre req till aug 12. when do you think I would hear for a petition or when I should try to see if i can register?

I am taking the skills class at RRC location (Thursday) 4.30 pm to 8.30 pm. ?

Anyone else taking the sep 23rd eastview evening class?

hey y'all. Just wanted to stop by and say Good Luck:) I am starting the program in Fall 2019. I have seen questions about Nursing Skills...you can wear whatever color scrubs you want and you can wear any shoes you want. You'll need the book and don't rent it bc it'll actually be a book you'll use throughout the whole program. I took the 5 week Nursing Skills at EVC and survived. It was very fast paced but I think they only offer 5 week class during summer time so y'all should be good! You don't need to buy a stethoscope but it'll make the vital portion a million time easier bc the stethoscopes in lab aren't very good quality.

Be prepared to wait and be frustrated with receiving info. I felt like every date they gave us to send info(petitions, acceptance letters) were always pushed back a week or so.

Thanks so so much for the info! I wish you best of luck starting your ADN in a few weeks.

@rachwhiz no problem! I was in y'alls exact place a few months ago. I was stressing for half a year(waiting on an acceptance letter) wishing I had known someone who could tell me what to expect. Feel free to ask any other questions.

@chriscruzis it required to get the textbook from the ACC bookstore? It is drastically cheaper even on evolve’s website.

@rachwhiz nope, you can get it from Evolve. I found mine on Facebook market place.

Hey! I applied for Spring 2020 as well. I just registered for the nursing skills class. I’m wondering what campus y’all are considering? I’ve heard some people prefer the RRC but some prefer EVC. What kinds of things have y’all heard? Thanks!

I'm registered for RRC because I'm 5 minutes from it. I've heard mixed things about each campus however I'm not going to base where I go off of other peoples opinions.

Are you sure you're not registered for Tuesday?
