Nursing Students School Programs

Hello everyone,

I did not see any other thread for ACC Spring 2018. Figured I would start one where we can all share our acceptance anxieties. I applied last week, I don't think I will get in first time around though :( very competitive. How do your application stats look?

I was SOOO nervous! I did my 1st one last week! I'm a nervous test taker, so doing it in front of the grader was hard for me!

If you have questions... Ask BEFORE you go in! Take your time (because you can with this one) I'd say ita good to go in order. You obviously have to do hand hygiene before you go into a room so that's not something you could do whenever. Just do it the way you practiced!

I practiced at home taking my "gown" off using a backwards jacket. I pretended I was untieing the back. Came to the real day and I forgot to untie it! Luckily you can state when you've made a mistake and fix it.

There's not really much else to it. Just keep practicing! Even when you think you got it. And after that one... Start working on the next skills check because it's a doozy! I'm ready for that check off to be done!

Okay thank you for the advice! Also do they give you a scenario to work with or do you just follow the list? I just really want to be prepared lol. I don't exactly understand what the check-off list means by " Explain the procedure to the patient and why this intervention is needed. " , my class only meets once during the week and the professors didn't exactly explain that part lol. I was assuming they meant checking vital signs and such...

Yes, you'll have a scenario. You can you one from the practice skills if you want. Just to get use to reading them and picking or the information you actually need when you go into the to the room

I was really nervous for the 1st check off and was oddly calm for the 2nd. The 2nd check off you really need to practice everything because it has quite a few things to be done in a short time frame. I have my 3rd tomorrow. The scenarios are simple. Just remember to breath and have fun in the class!

Oh, and it's best to verbalize everything that way the grader knows you know the steps and kinda helps makes things flow and not forget anything

Thank you both for the advice! It really has helped me calm down! Also has anyone received their acceptance email or anything? I'm getting worried lol

5pm. I'm so anxious. Ahhhh...!!!!

I got the letter!! Already accepted! Anyone else get in too?!

I got the letter!! Already accepted! Anyone else get in too?!

Yes, got my letter at 4:14

I just received my acceptance letter also! Congratulations!!

I also got mine an hour ago! So excited! Congrats everyone! Now I just need to push through Nursing Skills lol

Congratulations to all who got in. I was curious to what every one's campus preferences are. I am really hoping to get CEC.

Specializes in NICU Level 3.

Hey guys! Recent ACC grad here! Just wanted to send a little encouragement to everybody and a congratulations to those who have their acceptance letters! It's a tough 2 years but you can do it! It's still hard for me to believe that I am an RN now with almost 5 months of experience under my belt! If you have any questions feel free to ask! I was at RRC and loved all of my professors. Was also an officer with the ADNSA (student nurse association) so I know a few of the professors at other campuses!
