I did not see any other thread for ACC Spring 2018. Figured I would start one where we can all share our acceptance anxieties. I applied last week, I don't think I will get in first time around though :( very competitive. How do your application stats look?

I have a 33...I don't test well so my grades suffered. It's hard for me to retake the classes that matter since I took A+P separately. But I ac'd the HESI exam. Full 10 points plus a 970 on critical thinking. So I'm hopeful. 2 weeks!

Nope. They usually send out any letters on fridays. Would have thought an update would have posted today but unfortunately not. getting really anxious

Okay good! I will let you know as soon as I hear something. Also, I wanted to ask what makes you think getting petitioned to take nursing skills might be an indicator that you were accepted?

I had been told by FA that Nursing Skills is an indicator you got in. Whether that's relevant anymore I don't know. I was told this last year. You have to have Nursing Skills done before you can even start the program.

Good luck everyone! Also I've started nursing skills and our first check off is next week, Im so nervous and I've been practicing but I just want to make sure Im ready. Can anyone give me any tips on what to expect or be ready for or things I should pay close attention to? Also do I need to go in order of the check off list or can I combine them and switch them up?

It's always best go in the order of the check off so you don't miss a step. It's set up in the way we will be checked off at the end of skills and the beginning of the program. The check offs are really simple, a few are more time consuming just have a lot to do but if you practice a lot and breath, it's really easy. Just make sure you pay attention to language on the tests (ie what is the first step, what would a nurse do next, etc). It's a really fun class in my opinion. I'm sad it's going to be over in a couple weeks xD

Okay thank you for the advice! Also do they give you a scenario to work with or do you just follow the list? I just really want to be prepared lol. I don't exactly understand what the check-off list means by " Explain the procedure to the patient and why this intervention is needed. " , my class only meets once during the week and the professors didn't exactly explain that part lol. I was assuming they meant checking vital signs and such...
