Austin Community College ADN Spring 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Hello everyone,

I did not see any other thread for ACC Spring 2018. Figured I would start one where we can all share our acceptance anxieties. I applied last week, I don't think I will get in first time around though :( very competitive. How do your application stats look?

Just received the petition email, came earlier than I thought it would.

Yes, Spring '18 is the first time I've applied. I'm hopeful, I've got the pre and co's done and from what I've been told, it really ups your place for acceptance. Is this your first time applying too?

I got my email too :) surprising I was not expecting it, my ranking score if I did the math right is not that great. I guess that does not mean I am accepted but still exciting!

Yes first time applying too.

wonder how skills class will go, 8 week courses are kind of scary to me.

I went for the 10 week class since i was worried about taking an 8 week course. They scare me too

So I was kinda searching around since we need scrubs for Nursing Skills lab, doesnt have to be the ACC teal scrubs, but I'm wondering if there will be a color preference? Been kinda looking around to see what will be comfortable and have enough pockets and everything. Thinking of going just going teal until September. Then if I get my acceptance letter, order from Total Uniforms. I really can't wait for Aug 28 xD

Can't go wrong with teal lol... Did you already get all your background check stuff done?? I heard that some people are being turned away because they did not have it..

Reapplicants have to already have the background checks done. For new applicants, you don't have to, unless you have to petition the BON; you wait until the department tells you to do the background check. If you need to do a DO, then start it now because it can take almost 6 months depending on what the BON decides to do. I have to do a DO, and already submitted my fingerprints to BON. Now just another waiting game to hear back and see if I'm cleared or have to pay $150 for enforcement.

1st time applying. I got petitioned for the summer and 1st part of fall. I'm now registered for the 2nd part of fall.

If I did it right, my score is a 37. I have all but 1 co-req done (and a few others they removed from the degree requirements) I have one C in physiology (but rocked A&P on the Hesi). If I could have, I would have re-taken it. But it's not an option since they change the A&P courses.

I have 2 friends that start the fall17 program this month. They were both 1st time applicants and their scores were a 37.5 and 32.

I think it just depends on the number of applicants where they put the cutoff.

I'm ready for the wait to be over! The unknown makes me so nervous!!!

Anyways I'll be at RR W-8:30 with Ward. Anyone else?

i don't have great grades just because my daughter is special needs and required a lot of my time, so I couldn't study as well as would have been able to. I will get full points for HESI and have pre and co, just not sure how they calculate it with both completed.

From what I know, its easier to get in quickly with both done. I would have been able to apply into the program awhile ago if they didn't change the degree plan a lot.

I really can't wait until classes start, only because it would be a couple weeks until they sent out our letters.

I'm registered for the first part of Fall at Cypress on Fridays.

I feel ya with the ever changing pre-reqs!

It was so frustrating! Lots of time and money spent on courses I didn't need towards my degree.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I was in the same boat 2-3 years ago I was ready to apply and they kept on making changes everytime I was about to submit my app. So I got tired of it and decided to go for lvn first and see how it went... got through that program and now i am back to tackle this monster again hopefully with better luck this time.

Does anyone know what we will need for class? I can't find anything on it yet I'm a mess at times and like to get things ready as soon as possible.

For the DO did you have to wait until after you submitted your paperwork to TBON before you could get finger printed? If so, how long did you have to wait?
