Hi ya'll-
Thought I'd get this started for the rest of us who, sadly, did not make it in for Fall 2010. I'm hoping to re-submit my application for Spring today (or this week). Does anyone know, do we receive the form from the nursing office? Or, is this something we should grab from the website?
My score upon re-applying will be 54.899. Dang, sure am hoping this will be high enough and get me in this round!
How's everyone else holding up? Did everyone complete the pre-req - 1105 already? I have not and won't (due to extenuating circumstances) until early Fall. Will this negatively impact my chances of getting accepted? According to Tammy and the office, no. But, wanting to get everyone's input. Hoping we will hear about acceptance by Sept. Does anyone know this date for sure? The application period closed July 15, don't know why it takes them so long to get this word out.
Anyway- good luck to you. This is my 3rd round of applying so I sure am ready to get in and get on with this career change!
Colleen
what was your old score.. i wounder if it was like mine..
My score the first time applying was 51. I didn't get in the first round, then a few weeks ago I got a call asking if I wanted a spot for CEC and I turned it down. My new rank is so much higher because of the 5 extra review points, an "A" in nursing skills being counted that I took after applying the first time, and multiplying by 11 courses instead of 10.
Radiation,
What made you turn down the CEC slot? I am curious as someone who is wavering on the decision of taking hybrid vs. CEC/Eastview courses (I am assuming "hybrid" means that the theory portion is online, but maybe I'm wrong.) I'm curious if there is some drawback to enrolling as a CEC student.
Thanks,
texasceleste

Hybrid has been my first choice since deciding to pursue the RN program. I work full time at an oncology office and doing the hybrid would allow me to still work a couple days a week and keep my great medical benefits while in school and still allows me the option of picking up more hours at my second job at Seton on the weekends. I also am more of a self-learner in the fact that I find it really hard to sit through lecture when some professors read off power points word for word. I do my best learning and studying in the early evening - late night hours. I have heard nothing but great things from some of the RN's I work with at Seton and here at the oncology office who did the hybrid program and they had nothing but excellent things to say about all of the professors and about the program itself. They all worked while in nursing school and they say that hybrid is pretty much the best route to go when you have a work schedule like ours.
I also live in Round Rock, about 10 minutes from the new campus where the hybrid is now located and the thought of me having to drive downtown to CEC didn't appeal to me. I do realize I will have to drive far for clinicals sometimes but I would like to avoid it for labs and onsite meetings and such if at all possible.
So nothing personally against the CEC option from me. The few people I had talked to who had done the CEC program a few years ago did not like it at all. But from what I have read on here, ACC did alot of changing and re-organizing to the program to improve their drop out rate and so far it has worked.
So it all boils down to a personal choice for me and the fact that I will still have my work provide my medical insurance while in school at no cost to me rather than paying for it myself. Things will already be tight financially once school starts.

Thanks for your candid feedback! Are you at Seton main? I volunteer there on Sundays! I am hoping to be in hybrid, too, I think--I need to work while I'm in school--so maybe we can get a study group going if I get in for Spring with you. :)

Congrats, radiation! nytexan...I hope not by much! I am worried about my ranking score as a first-time applicant.
