I need help particularly from those RNs presently working in Australia.
The national registration scheme will start 01 July 2010. My present nursing registration will expire on 30 September 2010.
Upon the implementation of July 2010 national registration, what will be the expiry date of my nursing registration?
Will it still be 30 September 2010?
Or will it the "national registration scheme" automatically change the expiry date directly to 31 May 2011?
I'm confused with the announcements posted in the various nursing board websites. Hope anyone could help me understand.
Thank you very much.

Why don't you wait until you receive your letter from the licensing authority to renew? Nobody can answer you until the national authority releases that info.
by the time i receive the "letter" might be too late to comply with the new requirements like CPE, hence, unable to renew the license.. if somebody in this forum would know the answer then it would greatly help.. anyways..

Let me translate ghillbert's post: the national licensing authority has not yet released any specific information about how the new system will work. This includes CPE requirements, registration costs, or period of registration. It is therefore impossible for anyone on this board to give you anything more than their guesses. You will therefore, like every other nurse with Australian registration, have wait until you receive a renewal letter.
If you're concerned about CPE requirements make sure you keep a record of your education and top up if necessary - the ANF has online CPE modules.
..and here I thought I spoke English just fine...
Well, I thought the same thing when you posted, but I suspect we were both wrong

thank you for sharing the information regarding ANF online CPE modules, that's a great help. it is really nice to receive such positive answer with substance, than otherwise.
Received my letter today from the Nursing and Midwifery Board regarding national rego. It says if your rego is paid up past 30 June 2010 then it will automatically transfer over without you doing anything. They are going to write again at the start of the new scheme to advise of your new registration number and renewal date.
You do need to read the new info at http://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au
"What do I have to do to register with the national scheme?
Nothing. If you are registered at 30 June you will automatically transition into the new scheme and your registration will be valid until the end date of your registration. If you have just renewed your registration with your current board, you will be registered with the national scheme until the end of that registration period. If your current registration is due on 1 July or soon after and you do not renew your registration with your current Board before 30 June, you will be registered with the National Board only until the end-date of your current registration. After that date you will not be registered unless you renew your registration after 1 July with the National Board."

That's so weird, ghillbert - I got my letter today, too and my first thought was updating this thread! Too much allnurses?

Haha I think so!
Nothing about fees yet, though - I checked the Federal site and those won't be released until June.
