Hi everyone,

I've been a lurker on allnurses for years, and finally am finishing up school to move forward for my Associates at Broward. Unfortunately, they have totally thrown a monkey wrench in the pre-req requirements, and now I'm going to have to wait until Jan 2015 possibly to get into that program!!!!! I have all pre res done except for the new math, CHM and new Micro pre-req. This is devastating. I'm wondering though, is it possible to take the Micro and Lab in the summer and somehow slip in for the August 2014 program, or am i bananas?

Wow. Ok I need to get my uniform and shows ASAP. Thanks
np and yea ditto on the shoes I saw a nice pair at the mall for $40

Meme2012x they never said no make up.they said no hair to collar(it can't touch) no crazy colored hair that you weren't born with and no crazy nails and no nail polish,no jewelery(definitely no piercings or tattoos showing). Not a lot of crazy makeup but you can wear make up.oh and no fake eyelashes

She said "no makeup" because patients may be asthmatic or not pleased with our choice in make up. They are very strict for clinical so be careful and ask again if you have too.

Yes we have to wear scrubs to central orientation
Where/when did they say we had to wear scrubs?

The dean from south definitely said NO make-up...she said "no patient wants to be coming out of surgery and the first thing they see is a face full of clown make-up". She then went on to say if you enjoy wearing make-up wear it all you want in the summer because there will be NO make-up in class or clinicals! I was sitting pretty close and also spoke with her after the meeting....so yea NO MAKE-UP was stated (I don't know the policy at NORTH OR CENTRAL just spoke to the dean of South)

Thanks for clearing that up I'm pretty sure I was not the only person that heard this statement!

I understand clown makeup but seriously what does foundation have to do with healthcare? Plus every hospital I've been in I've seen nurses with makeup on. No eyeliner or lipstick or mascara but I'm wearing my foundation darnit

I agree 100% I currently work at a hospital and I wear make-up not tons of make-up (not my style) and NO ONE ever complains and my patients are always telling me how pretty I look lol..but I'll play by the rules I dont mind the no make-up rule and like she said by the time your half way through the program you wont care how you look!!!Sent from my iPad using allnurses

We are students not nurses yet, and we must go by the rules. It's weird but I mean what can we do. None. Imma wash my face and put baby powder on it...lolll

The S. Campus dean did say no makeup but when asked about powder she did say if its light n not really visible (as makeup should be any way) you should be fine..?.I personlly dont wear makeup at all too much time so glad that's one less thing for me to worry about.

At South...You can wear light make up... Post earrings, full scrubs all the time. .. Any time on campus...and polo IF you are not in clinicals on/off campus. You must always be in scrubs if you come to the school. Orientation is also full scrubs... No baby powder or perfume. You get it all in the orientation packet. You will be standing in the front of class for a check. All white shoes full leather with white high socks. No nail polish no fake nails. I think they would drop you if they saw fake nails! And yes. ..No hair at all touching your collar. Pick it up or you will get an ear full
