Hi everyone,

I've been a lurker on allnurses for years, and finally am finishing up school to move forward for my Associates at Broward. Unfortunately, they have totally thrown a monkey wrench in the pre-req requirements, and now I'm going to have to wait until Jan 2015 possibly to get into that program!!!!! I have all pre res done except for the new math, CHM and new Micro pre-req. This is devastating. I'm wondering though, is it possible to take the Micro and Lab in the summer and somehow slip in for the August 2014 program, or am i bananas?

Yes that's a good site also for CEU's. A lot of people go online at broward college or ceufast fast.com.Atleast you are on your way and you will get CEU's done quickly

thanks and yea it's pretty easy I'm almost done :-)

From conversations with current students, it can be very difficult to do anything else while in the program. Basically I've been told to hug my family, my social life and job kiss them and tell them see you in two years. Try feeling it out first before doing any extra classes while doing the program.

Anyone else planning on taking other classes while in the program? I am planning on taking two in the fall.

Can we do those now?

As a current Broward College nursing student I want to give you guys a little insight on a typical day for me or in the day of a Broward College nursing student. I spend an average of about 14 hours a day at school between classes and then of course studying. Nursing school will become your life, your girlfriend/boyfriend, your best friend, and at times your worst enemy. Before I started the program I heard from many people the same thing I am telling you now and I never really understood how time consuming it was until I actually started the program and got to realize it for myself. Give your family, friends, and loved ones a kiss goodbye for the time being and make sure to always and I repeat always keep up with your reading and assignments. Meet people and become friends with them because these will be the people you will be spending 90 percent of your day with. In the short time I have been in nursing school I have made a group of friends that I would not change for the world. We laugh together, study together and VERY often cry together but at the end of the day we get through the difficult times together. Nursing school is so challenging, yet so rewarding. It is hard….VERY HARD, but when you finish an exam and get that passing grade you have wanted and have been studying for it makes you feel complete. It is true what they say that you will no longer be an "A" student and thats okay because at the end of the day just barley getting by and passing will become the new norm. Enjoy these last couple of months off, go on vacation if you can, and spend all the time you can with loved ones and family. For those of you that think you can take classes on top of nursing school more power to you because in a normal world that just isn't going to happen and you will learn that at orientation. Good luck to every last one of you on your journey and I wish you nothing but the best. You all can do this!!!!

After I complete the program at Broward College, will my GPA play a factor if for instance I want to transfer to Nova to obtain my bsn? I heard countless students mentioning that 'C' becomes the new 'A' at Broward College. It's almost certain that our GPA can only be dropped while in the program. Is it that hard to complete the program with all 'A's' and 'B's..?' It will be pretty hard to get into some of the major universities with too many 'C's..'

I can not explain how excited I to start the program in August. I know my life will be over for the time that I am in the program but this has been my dream to become a nurse. And now I am so close to really starting my life and becoming the first college graduate in my family. I'm so looking forward to meeting all of you and starting this amazing journey together. Lets just try to stay positive and be grateful we have been presented with this amazing opportunity!

Congrats! Just like you I will be the first college graduate in my family as well. Which campus are you attending?

My friend graduated last year, he had mostly C's and some B's, but he's GPA was 3.3. I mean it's still a high GPA considering you're in nursing school. And, he told me to leave like two or three classes toward my BSN to do when I finish the program because I'm gonna need it to boost up my GPA afterward.

Thanks! Congrats to you as well!!!! I plan on Central but my second choice is South due to distance. How about you?

I completed three of the certificates at ceufast.com. I just realized that they don't offer cpr.. What should I do?
