Hi everyone,

I've been a lurker on allnurses for years, and finally am finishing up school to move forward for my Associates at Broward. Unfortunately, they have totally thrown a monkey wrench in the pre-req requirements, and now I'm going to have to wait until Jan 2015 possibly to get into that program!!!!! I have all pre res done except for the new math, CHM and new Micro pre-req. This is devastating. I'm wondering though, is it possible to take the Micro and Lab in the summer and somehow slip in for the August 2014 program, or am i bananas?

This worries me too. Those students shouldn't have anything to do with us as they were already accepted under a previous term. If there are 20 deferred seats to August, Broward College should have more seats open for the August term. If they were to accept 200, they would have to accept 220 to accommodate everyone... I am pretty sure the admission staff have already done the math...

Checked my application and my status says application in review. I got 16points as well. Im guessing they are working on the August applications. Nervous excitement as I continue to wait.

Do you guys think that with all those students deferring their seats for August, those people are going to have enough spots for "Us" the new applicants?

I really hope they have enough spots for us I would be really upset if they don't!! :(

Im guessing it would make sense that they accommodate everyone with the deferred students. we all deserve a seat regardless, i just pray it works out for us all

I think that just because a student deferred their seat it doesnt mean they are going to be considered before everyone else. If more students were to apply afterwards with better graded, I think they would take over that students seat.

I deferred my seat and we are guaranteed a spot. we don't have to go through the whole acceptance process again. My status on mybc says "decision deferred" and we are now waiting for the orientation for august. I believe there was a certain amount of seats that are able to be deferred. they were actually not accepting more deferments because of how many they received.

Oh the thing is I havnt done done anything yet like background check or anythng. The lady that helped me said she would defer my application but I havnt gone through the complete process yet. My application status used to say preadmitted but when she changed it to August it went back to saying application in review.

Many students got accepted but deferred for August for many reasons. May I've understood is a very difficult semester because of how short it is. At least you know your in already so you wont be nervous and anxious like us. What campus are you considering?

Yeah a lot of people deferred because they made it very clear that you cannot miss any classes. I for example have a wedding to go to out of state and would miss a class and didn't wanna have the odds against me when it's already a shorter semester. I'm glad I'm in because they kept us waiting for so long. We found out April 11 and the semester started May 12. I didn't have enough time to get everything done before having to give my two week notice in at my job as well. It was too rushed.

What about the regular semester? Are you allowed to miss a day? I would think not but totally unsure. Also what did they say about the point system. I dont have alot and was told they no longer use it, but it unnerves me non the less.

They really recommend you not miss any days because of how much information there is but I would think the attendance policy is the same as other classes . Just absolute NO tolerance for being late. I can't comment too much about the point system. I only got points for my GPA and unfortunately from what I saw for May they accepted everyone who applied.. Regardless of points or hesi scores.

Well thats great news point system wise lol. And i know they are dead serious about being late. I guess everyone should make sure their transportation is in tip top shape before this thing kicks off.
