Hi everyone,

I've been a lurker on allnurses for years, and finally am finishing up school to move forward for my Associates at Broward. Unfortunately, they have totally thrown a monkey wrench in the pre-req requirements, and now I'm going to have to wait until Jan 2015 possibly to get into that program!!!!! I have all pre res done except for the new math, CHM and new Micro pre-req. This is devastating. I'm wondering though, is it possible to take the Micro and Lab in the summer and somehow slip in for the August 2014 program, or am i bananas?

hey :) my instructor for lecture is mrs.smith at central and my lab instructor is mrs.laban , any tips for me?

I had Smith. Ugh. Sorry to say but you may have to be adamant after exams to review. Have your text ready if you want to dispute questions. She likes to go off on a tangent, which annoyed me. We lost over half our class (LPNs) because the course was disorganized. Study your butt of though. I'm not familiar with the lab instructor though. Be glad you don't have Smith for lab. I had another instructor, but was given a different Return Demo date due to hospitalization. She (Smith) did my demo 1 and failed me. Redid it with my original instructor and passed. Her original group of 13 in lab, 12 failed the demo. You may also catch her playing Candy Crush on her phone, unless she found a new game. Loved talking about it in class... :( She's nice as a person, but when she misspelled words and we corrected her shed say "well, I can't spell. It took me ten years to get my masters degree. "

oh no :( now i'm more worried idk what to expect for her exams then. Thank you for your advice!

Sorry. I really wish I had raving reviews for her... :(

It's okay, just means that I have to put even more work towards my lecture portion. Are all her tests multiple choice? or are there some fill in the bank, matching, etc.?

From what I remember her exams were on the computer. You'll go to the testing center in the library. That being said, they'll be multiple choice. She may have select all that apply.

Your first week is almost complete :) so how do you guys like it so far? Please share your experience; are you satisfied with the campus of your choice? Do you like your instructors?

It is open to tour, but I'm not sure if it's open for use as of yet. We're still using the old lab.

It's been crazy so far, everyday is studying for hours and trying to organize all this information. From the books to the modules to the online evolve site(not required but VERY useful) and then d2l info and where ever else you can pull useful info from arrrg! Thats not counting lab and all its books etc and the required lab hours for demos. there truly is little time for anything else but im happy that its rolling. the building i was old is in use for the upperlevel nursing students right now, and we'll get to use it later. Its a mini hospital with labor and delivery, er, med/surg and who knows what else. we will see!!

First week was stressful as in it is new and trying to get organized and do everything that is required to be successful in the program. Trying to put in my 3hr minimum of study time everyday, watch videos on d2l, use study guide, modules and text to prepare for out first exam next monday. NOTHING WORTH HAVING COMES EASY.

Ok guys be very careful with homework assignments for lab. Read the due dates very carefully. Any missing pages is your responsibility and you will get written up. How is the studying going for Monday's exam?

Yeah they've been writing people up all week! Studying is coming along, using every resource available to retain imfo
