Hi everyone,

I've been a lurker on allnurses for years, and finally am finishing up school to move forward for my Associates at Broward. Unfortunately, they have totally thrown a monkey wrench in the pre-req requirements, and now I'm going to have to wait until Jan 2015 possibly to get into that program!!!!! I have all pre res done except for the new math, CHM and new Micro pre-req. This is devastating. I'm wondering though, is it possible to take the Micro and Lab in the summer and somehow slip in for the August 2014 program, or am i bananas?

Today clinical starts at 8:30 right ?

Am I the only one that feels like I haven't even slept lol. Italia got into my head. After a longgggg day I found energy for another 3 hours of studying. ????

Hey! Sorry for the late response! I like central campus and I believe the professors I've had so far are great, they have all prepared me in different ways with some being stronger in lecture and others in lab. I don't know how North campus is but I always hear good things about it. But I really don't think there is any reason to shy away from central if it's closer to you

Thanks! You know, what shied me away from Central were all the "horror" stories from past semesters of how impossible the professors made it for students to pass. I believe you make your own experience, depending on how much effort and how bad you want it, but after the stories i was a lil hesitant about Central. Its nice to hear that your experience so far is great. I live in the middle of the two campuses, so I will have to take some time to make my decision. I wish u all the best of luck! Ill be reading this thread as u guys go through this process, so I will be in touch. THanks again! =)

Between South and Central, I'd go for Central. My campus. :) It is difficult and the horror stories are true, but it's not impossible to succeed.

How are you guys approaching all of those chapters? We only have a couple weeks before the first exam. It's overwhelming, I feel like screaming at this very moment. Anyone? Mariposa, please give us some tips..

Hey! Go ahead and scream, I did it then and I did it this week after my Peds class. So, once you're done screaming, grab your text books and look at each chapter, the titles of each section and the pictures. Charts also help. If you're confused about a procedure, YouTube it. Run to the lab if you must. Practice vitals as well. I don't remember exactly what the first test covered. Haven't been in process since last May. Refresh me and I may be able to help with the subject matter. :)

I read the chapter on vital signs twice. I feel like I am very comfortable with the chapter. I will not read it again because I don't want to fall behind with so many chapters and reading to go. My main concern is the exam because I don't know what to expect. Say I read, understand and feel comfortable with every chapter that the exam covers, should I still be worried?

Don't underestimate these exams. If you feel comfortable enough with the material, I'd do practice questions online. I'm not trying to scare you at all, but reading all (10 chapters I believe) before an exam will honestly just blow your mind up. How about checking your family's vitals and as you do them, remind yourself the normal values, the process of taking each vital, the reasoning behind them, etc. Also, read your objectives in the beginning of the chapters, and as you go along with the reading, highlight/write down the answers to those objectives. It'll definitely help. :)

Oh okay. No problem, I'm happy to help. I don't know Mrs. Fola, but generally speaking, exams are pretty similar. You'll do fine. Just study your butt off! :sly:

Thanks again. I'll do just that.
