Hi everyone,
I've been a lurker on allnurses for years, and finally am finishing up school to move forward for my Associates at Broward. Unfortunately, they have totally thrown a monkey wrench in the pre-req requirements, and now I'm going to have to wait until Jan 2015 possibly to get into that program!!!!! I have all pre res done except for the new math, CHM and new Micro pre-req. This is devastating. I'm wondering though, is it possible to take the Micro and Lab in the summer and somehow slip in for the August 2014 program, or am i bananas?
Congrats to all new nursing students! I remember when I started in 2013. It was nerve wracking. I went into the LPN transition in the summer so you can guess the load of work we did, but it's possible. Sadly, I had to retrack and am not able to graduate with my group in December. Have to retake my last specialty, but it's definitely worth it. Read, read, read those texts. Don't get side tracked when in lecture. Do your best. We're one step closer to our goals!
No I have not.....do you have a link you can share?
WARNING: BOOKSTORE ISSUES. First of all I got to the school at 6:30 to beat the lines, guess what there were no lines!!! Anyway the nice lady that runs the new bookstore took our schedules and were gonna get our books already pulled to make our experience faster and easier. WELL. That didnt happen for alot of reasons but the warning is really about the books. The books will be more than what they allow you to spend in the bookstore so they sent me back and forth for hours between financial aid and them to get an increase so i can purchase everything i needed. After all that they also no longer accept financial aid to cover uniforms anymore. WTH! Im just disgusted because now thats even more money i dont have, to come up with to be ready for class and clinicals. So when you go you may need to see financial aid first to increase your allowance and you still wont be able to use those funds for 48hrs. Also they dont have at least three of the MANDATORY books we need for class. Ugh. I just walked in my door after being there and im pooped!!!!!!!!

Try Craigslist, I got a few from there when I first started. Also, apply for Workforce One (CareerSource Broward, now). They'll pay whatever financial aid doesn't cover. They even pay for NCLEX after graduation! :)

I had plenty money left over it was a matter of how much they allow you to spend in the bookstore. You have to get that increased from your current financial aid leftovers

Great have you started those math problems that are on Professor Brickman's website. I did a few however I need the book to learn how to solve the rest.
