Hi everyone,

I've been a lurker on allnurses for years, and finally am finishing up school to move forward for my Associates at Broward. Unfortunately, they have totally thrown a monkey wrench in the pre-req requirements, and now I'm going to have to wait until Jan 2015 possibly to get into that program!!!!! I have all pre res done except for the new math, CHM and new Micro pre-req. This is devastating. I'm wondering though, is it possible to take the Micro and Lab in the summer and somehow slip in for the August 2014 program, or am i bananas?

I think it's because I applied late and ran through some difficulties with my application. I will probably need the loan for the summer. I'll try to cover every expanse up until the winter.

Don't frown upon loans. I paid everything cash up to now and my credit cards and my measly paychecks wish I got a loan. It's not the end of the road. I just accepted my loans today. It's not a biggie. Pay it when you're done. When you have a career and all you're stuck with is a small loan bill it does not compare to what you overcame. Education never goes wasted. And you're atleast getting a pell grant. Be grateful! also!! Do your research. If you work in a county hospital they do loan forgiveness. There's too many options. I started going to school fresh out of high school and now years later I wish I stuck to it. It's overwhelming but not impossible. what helped me the most was reading what people write on this website so I know what to expect. There's cheaper and easier ways around EVERYTHING !! Keep your head up!

So I just came from south campus bookstore to buy more scrubs and they told me that there will be new ones next week! That they are doing some changes to the scrubs. So new scrubs! I am going to have to return the scrubs I already bought!

Waaaaaaaaaa

Yes get the loan NOW!. Go to StudentLoans.gov, do the MPN and the entrance counseling. Then select a loans class in your my BC account. There is still time no need to fret.;)

Financial Aid is finally there thank goodness! Classes are paid for but we have to wait til August 10th to go to the bookstore. Wanted the hardcopy book sooner

IKR, everyone is telling me to read now!!

Loan is the way to go, I'll do everything possible to get it.

You can keep those... We were told we could buy extra and they would be fine.. Not unless the nursing department told you that. The bookstore has no clue.

Yes and don't forget about the Memorial Health Scholarships too. Once you become a nurse they will have you working for them and paying them back. This is why there is a lot of BC nurses at Memorial. They adore Broward College graduates.

IKR, everyone is telling me to read now!!

Right? I'm really bummed but will read the PDF version until then.

Sent from my iPad using allnurses

We have to wear our uniforms to the North campus orientation, received an updated email from the Dean

I didn't get an email? What did it talk about?

Does anyone have any idea of the math text we will be using for Math for Healthcare professionals. We will be having a test in the first week of the semester. I would love to be prepared for it since we must score 90% to pass.

It's not just South Campus. I spotted many students at Central wearing the nursing polo with jeans. I am hoping the same thing can be done at North Campus as I don't want to be stuck in uniforms for five straight semesters. I don't think we should be in full nursing uniform in a math or pharmacology class.
